In the past, I had always thought that energy prices go up in tandem with the price of gas/oil.
Considering the continuing low price of oil, I would have thought there is no need for any increase in retail prices this winter.

One would like to think so, but where the major suppliers have upped prices recently, they did not cite raw material costs as the reason, rather government imposed environmental and social obligations.
Typically raw material costs make up less than 50% of your gas bill and less than 40% of your electricity bill.0 -

Also, don’t forget that oil is priced in $s and we all pay for our energy in £sThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
