I've got two rescues - Tasha (female) 13 and Bob (male) 5 . We had Bob as a kitten and he was soon put in his place by Tasha. She would push him out of the way at feeding time. They have always got on well together but never been best mates.

Bob is now a mature male and Tasha showing her age.

Now Bob seems to be the boss pushing her out of the way.

Is the senior/junior position to be expected ?

yes, I think that does happen because of their ages.

Does Tasha's behaviour seem off to you? Just wondered as we had one elderly cat who developed dementia and we had to make sure that she got her share of food as the other cat would eat from her bowl sometimes. we also had to make sure that she remembered to eat!

Took Tasha to the vet yesterday. She has a sore mouth and may have to have some teeth out.

    Tasha Update

Dental work yesterday - down now to two teeth. Badly diseased teeth and gums. No wonder she was so down.

Came home and scoffed like there was no tomorrow - lots of TLC required and pain killers.

The vet couldn't have been better. He was worried that there was some other cause and phone calls from him before the op and afterwards.

Tasha is certainly having a rough time. She had been eating well after her op and putting a bit of weight back on.

She was back to the vets yesterday with a weepy eye. Vet thinks its an abscess rather than cancer. The eye is badly swollen preventing the eyelids watering the eye.

Back home now with the eyelids stitched together and wearing a collar - on a course of antibiotocs. Tasha is not happy - my task now is to give her tablets !
