help with laptop tv out

I have a laptop with tv out port (s-video). this dislays the computer screen fine when connected to my tv. However when any video file is played through media player no output is seen on the tv, only the frame around the window the rest is just a black screen.

    Under Media Player, go to the Tools Menu, then Options, click the Performance Tag and then the Advanced button. Under the Video Acceleration section, try ticking/unticking the first three options one at a time, clicking Apply and then trying the video each time. I think it was the 'Use Overlays' option that did it for me.
