Can anyone advise on how to make this company stop taking money. My story started about 4yrs ago when I stupidly mistook them for Sky insurance. It took me about 12 months to realise I was paying for my Sky equipment insurance to 2 different companies. In my defence I have become much, much more financially aware since then. Anyway every year I've noticed this company starts a new policy and they take money from my bank, with out my consent. Every year I call them and demand to be removed from their records and I've written to them, sending the letter recorded delivery. Now I'm back in the same position whereby payments have been taken from my account. So I cancelled the Direct debit and low and behold I received a letter today with my new direct debit payment dates. I'm so frustrated and I don't know what it will take for this company to get the message that I want nothing to do with them. It doesn't seem to matter how nicely or angrily I get with them, nothing works. I know I'm never going to get the money back that I believe they stole but I simply want them to sod off. Help me please

Immediately get in touch with your bank and cancel the direct debit. At the same time, write to the company again and tell them you have cancelled the direct debit and you wish to cancel your insurance with them, as you have already informed them in writing previously on whatever date it was you sent them the recorded delivery letter.
Once you have contacted your bank to tell them to cancel the direct debit, if any more payments are made you can request a refund from your bank under the direct debit guarantee. So you shouldn't be out of pocket, but you have to make sure you cancel the direct debit with your bank first.0 -
OP, you need to make sure it is a direct debit, and not a continuous payment authority or similar. If it is a DD then you are covered as mac says. If it is a CPA, it's a bit more complicated but should still be easy to sort. There's good advice on the money advice service website. www.moneyadviceservice.org.uk0
