How long for a drainage search?

Hi

I agreed to an offer on the house i am selling in early july, but things seem to be moving really slowly. Should be a straightforward deal as my buyer has nothing to sell and i have nothing to buy. My estate agent is useless and never contacts me, i call every 14 days to speak to the progresser but she is never available and takes a couple of days to get back to me. Last time i spoke to her she said that they were just waiting on the drainage search. how long does this normally take? needless to say i could'nt get her on the phone today. I have told my solicitor i want exchange by 24th of this month or i am pulling out and renting it out again, as i shall have to re-insure and pay council tax again on that date.
any advice greatly appreciated

I would ring the EA, ask to talk to the manager and tell him/her exactly what you have told us, I think they will get their fingers out once they sense a lost sale!

I applied for my drainage search from Severn Trent. It went in the postbox on Friday and arrived back on Thursday.

If you pay council tax, you will of course, get back any money that wasn't used. Reinsuring, well use Martin's guide (and quidco, you can get some lovely lump sums back) and then transfer it to the new place when you move. 24th is ages away anyway.

Thanks libra, The trouble there is he has already lied to me on several occasions and after he was rude to my wife i dont wish to speak to him. I had already decided to change agents, and had given written notice because i found out they were not forwarding offers to me, when they came up with this buyer. I was afraid prices would drop, so swallowed my pride and took the offer. Funny, i am sure he said it would only take 6 weeks to complete 13 weeks ago!

There's nothing to stop you doing it yourself. I did the drianage and the local authority searches for my HIP - it was cheaper to go direct than paying a search company or a solicitor.
