Thank you, for you help. So I am clear after reading the advice on MSE about ignoring everything is this now correct? I didn't ignore the first letter I responded with my reasons why we had overstayed. then read the MSE comments as to just ignore any further letters. Now we have a CCJ. What is the official line for private land parking, so I can inform others.
Kind Regards0 -

The advice on this forum is not to ignore tickets. That has been the case since late 2012.
The advice we give is to appeal tickets. There is a thread at the top of the forum that starts with the word "Newbies" and says that it contains faq's and needs to be read first.
That thread contains templates to appeal tickets and templates for court defences. Sadly had you found the forum earlier you would likely have been assisted to put up a winning defence. We win over 90% of court claims.
Wait for other opinions before rushing to pay it, youve got a bit of time yet, someone may be able to come up with something.0 -

You did not read that on this forum, not since 2013.
Why, have others also not bothered to read anything since 2013? You should have read the current advice, just gone to page one...one click! What is the official line for private land parking, so I can inform others.
Either pay within 30 days (I would not recommend it for CEL) which will cost you the best part of £300 but means you have no hearing - although the defendant will have to make sure the Court is advised it is paid - or (my preference) get it set aside for £255, based on the fact the defendant was working abroad and that he has good prospects of a successful defence. Against CEL this IS likely to be achievable - do NOT say who was driving. What can I do nothing or shall we just pay?
You really need to urgently read post #2 of the NEWBIES FAQS thread at the top of the forum. It covers this already, with linked examples, including a person (saggi) who got a CEL CCJ set aside and her £255 refunded, and the claim was not continued. So it cost her nothing in the end and it's cancelled.
This can be achieved by a defendant (not you, your OH) who researches properly and reads the NEWBIES thread post #2 about defences and setting aside, and reads and learns from saggi's linked case.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

defendant was working abroad and that he has good prospects of a successful deefnce.
I did wonder about that but am a bit concerned thatWe travel Mondays to Fridays home late on a Friday
might go against them, whilst it clearly doesn't give them much time to get a defence in I'm a bit concerned a judge may feel they should have at least acknowledged the claim?0 -
To balance my advice the other way, this person recommends paying it within the 30 days and making sure the stupid thing is removed from the register (not by assuming all you do is just pay):

But they had an Excel charge, by contrast yours is CEL and a bit easier (probably) to defend, if your OH never said who was driving, in any appeal. Especially good prospects to set aside and defend and win, if he wasn't driving!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
