Hoover Washer Dryer Quote

Hi, pls bear with me, this is my first foray into "forums" and have a lot to learn!
My query is this - our (approximately) 7yr old Hoover washer/dryer (vhd w656 d) no longer heats up, ie it "tumble dries" cold.
We also own a Hoover dishwasher, and when it developed a fault, we contacted the service contact number quoted in the user instructions (Hoover Service "for our local engineer")
My problem is thus - the person gave me two options:
To get our 7yr old machine repaired, at an estimated £128.00, IF it is repairable - for a one off repair. OR
Sign up to a 12 month contract costing £12.99 per month - a total of £238.00 for 12 months. For this, I am told we will get "unlimited call outs, repairs and parts all free, and free replacement if washer/dryer becomes unrepairable...this quote only covers one machine....
when I asked for the downsides.opt outs, I got told there "weren't any" and it was the better deal than paying out £128.00....
My dilemma comes in knowing that our machine IS 7yrs old, and likely to develop faults, but is it worth paying out the extra 110.00 "just in case", or am I better paying the "estimated" one off £128.00?
If it finally gave up the ghost, would they, in all reality, replace or cash value what we paid on a 7yr old model free??
and thirdly...I live in Croydon area, and have NEVER needed a household appliance repair bod.... :-o how do I go about finding one I can trust and rely on, whom I can call on for ALL appliance faults??
(one important thing - I have "dyscalculia", basically dyslexia with numbers instead of words, so forgive any mathematical errors)..
and may I vent at the man on the end of the phone who was determinedly trying to sell me their **** warranty over the phone - pressured sales pitch, and vent my frustration at why on earth companies are hard selling, and causing us householders even more headaches than we already have!!:mad::mad:
thanks to all and anyone who take time to read my "first" post, and especial thanks to anyone who replies! ;-)

Well if it was me I would bin the appliance.
Any 7 year old appliance has probably reached the point where repair is uneconomical.
I don't know the appliance but does it give an error code ??
If so get on Google.....
Maybe some help here ??
