How much do bankers drafts cost?

Are they like postal orders where you pay a certain percentage of the value to be paid? Also could I walk in there today, ask for one and they'll give me one or do I have to give notice?

I'm with Halifax and it cost me £10 for a bankers draft when I paid a house deposit a couple of months ago. Just went into the branch and they did it there and then - I think I had to show some ID. JC0

I would advise phoning beforehand to make a convenient appointment. If you turn up on spec at a lunchtime and it's a small branch, you may end up waiting a while.Gwlad heb iaith, gwlad heb galon0

They only charge £10 if drawing from a bank account where you have your own cheque book facility
otherwise its free from a savings account
you have to specify the amount and who to pay the draft to
no need to make an apppointment for a bankers draft as only counter can do this0
