Improving credit rating quickly

Hi - I need to improve my credit rating quickly. I have checked my credit report and I am very rated as very poor. I plan to pay off my credit card (5k) this month, I am chasing a defaulted payment from 2015 to see what it is, I am registered to vote.
Is there anything else that I can do to improve this?

Ignore your credit score or rating. It's entirely meaningless.
Ensure you settle all the defaults. Clear credit card balances. Use a card regularly and clear in full each month.
Time will do the rest.
The only rating that matters is the one that lenders give you when you apply.0
