Journalistically would have been more honest to mention the ownership link in the story, in my opinion.
Glad to see such fines handed out, but sad that it hasn't happened to more unscrupulous firms than Money Supermarket.0 -
Doing the maths, £80000 divided by 7.1 million is 1.126p per email.
So even if Money Supermarket got only a small success rate from that email campaign, then they will have earned a lot more than £80000 from it.If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -

In any case, I don't imagine much profit was gained directly from upsetting people who had opted out of unsolicited communication by sending them "updated terms and conditions" along with an invitation for them to reconsider their privacy settings ...0 -
