Hi,
The pictures in my emails are not showing up, just the red x's.
Also I have 2 hard drives within my PC and the computer is now having problems linking to the 2nd drive, eg: in my web editor programme when I open a previously made page its says it cannot find the pictures? If you click through to the pictures (re-insert them) they show up again.
Any ideas!
Thank you

Which email program are you using?
If it's Outlook, click on Tools....Internet Options, Advanced tab and ensure that the Show Pictures option is checked. There's probably something simiar if you are using a different email program.0 -
It sounds like the email program can't find the image files. Are you connected to the internet when you're trying to view them, or are the images stored on your hard drive.
Little red Xs indicate a broken link, or an image no longer available (such as something that has been deleted from a web server)I don't believe and I never did that two wrongs make a right0 -
A software firewall I used to use (can't remember which one), used to allow a mail program to fetch/send email on the pop3/smtp ports but blocked images in emails by blocking access for the program via http (port 80).

Thanks,
Yes I am connected to the internet via broadband, however occassionally I get a 'You are not connected, do you want to connect now box' so that might be a clue, but the never dial up box is checked in the dial up options.
Still no joy though. I did update my Zone Alarm recently and update windows to service pack 2.
Very Strange.

In case anyone else has the same problem, I've found the answer.
How Do I Unblock Images In Outlook ExpressAfter installing Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) and downloading emails into Outlook Express, you will find that no images are downloaded with the email. Only the placeholders are shown. This is a security feature that can prevent the person sending the email (usually a company) from knowing that you have opened the mail. To change this option so that images are downloaded with all your mail do the following.
1/ Launch Outlook Express
2/ On the main Toolbar click the Tools option
3/ From the drop down menu that appears click Options
4/ The Options Window will now open
5/ Click the Security tab
6/ On the Security tab screen look for the section marked 'Download images'
7/ Now uncheck the 'Block images and other external content in HTML email'
8/ Finally click Apply followed by OK to exit
9/ The next time you download your email the images should all be in place
