Which is why I suggested that you look at a Fiesta, I wouldn't be at all surprised to find it's perfectly adequate for your needs, and there are many available for your budget.

I'd agree, the Fiesta is pretty much the same size as the mk1 Focus now.

My daughter bought a 65 plate Fiesta from a Ford dealer at the beginning of the year, it had about 20k miles on it and cost around £7k iirc. It was one of the higher spec models with electric everything, aircon and even Bluetooth ICE. It even came with the balance of the Ford 3 year/60k warranty as well as the longer paint/corrosion warranties transferred to her.

Thanks to you (and agrinall) for this suggestion. I have sat in a Fiesta recently and I did feel the difference in terms of size. Also the boot was definitely smaller than the Almeira. It's just a bit too small for what we need at the moment (but it's definitely on my list for next time we change cars).

Kia cee'd? Basically an i30, possibly a bit cheaper though. Longer warranty than the i30 at 7 years, but it's limited to 100k miles. i30 is 5 year unlimited mileage.

£8k would buy you a 64 plate Focus.

    For example, with 25k miles
