I cancelled an order for a front door, how long before my deposit should be returned?

Hi,
I ordered a new front door and fitting on what was supposed to be a great deal, and then on discovering it was more along the lines of a rip off (I know, do your research first and don't get taken in by salesmen, mea culpa), immediately cancelled it (within 24 hours).
The company in question has acknowledged receipt of my cancellation, but has yet to send me a refund of my deposit.
In their contract they say that refunds will be within 28 days, but looking online it seems that my statutory right is 14 days? I am not completely sure since most websites refer to 14 days from when the goods were returned, whereas in this case no goods had changed hands, it was a cancellation of a contract.

It's 14 days after the day on which the trader is informed of the consumer’s decision to cancel the contract.shadowen999 wrote: »Hi,

That assumes you ordered at a distance.0 -
As above.
How was the contract agreed and order placed?
1. Over the phone?
2. Via a website?
3. In your home?
4. At the vendor's premises?
Post #2 will cover options 1 and 2. I can't remember what applies for option 3. For option 4 then the T&Cs of the contract apply - if these say 28 days then 28 days it is ... be thankful there was even a cancellation clause.0 -
DoaM:
It was option 3.
I wouldn't have signed if I hadn't verified there was a cancellation clause, and it did not impose any conditions.
But I'd still be more comfortable to see the money in my account, in this day and age there's so little excuse for long refund times (the funds don't even generate any interest worth mentioning) that I'm wary of companies delaying.0
