Well there's the word that worries me - "tolerate".

I don't want to go through all of this to find they hate each other or worse still, they hate me. Oscar is my shadow and is never far apart from me so it would be awful if he hated the fact I'd brought another kitten into the house. Of course they need more attention the younger they are too.

I really am struggling making a decision - my friend has kittens available now (same household Oscar came from, different mum).

I understand what you mean, and unfortunately there is no guarantee how they will be once they are past the kitten stage. Mine were brothers from the same litter and still did their own thing once adolescents but never any fighting etc.

Having two male kittens could have increased the likelihood of the power struggle though i.e. who is going to be the more dominant of the two.

Some people suggest having a boy and a girl, as the need for dominance by both cats is less likely to happen. Maybe do some independent research to see if this is the case and maybe getting a female kitten would be better?

Have a look on Vicky Halls' website she is a cat behaviourist - there is lots of info on there and maybe some guidance on your dilemma.

I suppose if you are in any doubt then don't do it. Cats sleep a lot when you are not home, and it sounds like he has your full attention when you are home - I bet that he is perfectly happy!!

Yes I've been thinking along those lines too, but I should wait until he is neutered I guess.

It's just the evenings I have to go out or the overnights (not had any yet!). I have to say, though, when I'm home at the weekend it completely throws him!!!
