Hello
Ok so...... I don't quite know where to start!!!
I'm writing this post in hope that I can get peoples opinions and hopefully some advice on a situation that myself and many of my work colleagues have found ourselves in regarding private land, parking tickets.
We all work in retail at a large shopping centre in...........
About 2 and half years ago there was signs put up every where in the car parks saying on duty staff members were no longer permitted to park in the shopping centre car parks, we were to park on waste land that is separate from the actual shopping centre.
The area that they designated us is not big enough for all the staff members to actually get a space and the area used is a good 15 minute walk away. The area is dark and not seen as a safe area for us to be walking to and from in the dark sometimes at 10,11,12 o'clock at Night alone. There as been many incidences in this area of Girls getting approached by strange men or vehicle's getting damaged.
Due to this many of us have ended up parking in the shopping centre carparks, Foolishly we now realise!!
Anyway to cut a long story short we have been getting parking ticket slapped on our cars from CP Plus and are now facing unpaid parking ticket fines individually for sums of £120 up to £18,000+
I wouldn't like to say how many staff members have received fines but just with the people I know of I bet it's easy 150+.
We all at different stages I.e debt collection, final demand and court summons ect.
What's your advice? is it even worth us trying to fight this or has it gone way to far now?????.
Please help!

Those that can should appeal them. CP Plus don't use POFA so beating them on appeal is very, very simple.
CP Plus have, so far, never taken anyone to court but given there are some huge sums involved here that may change.
People with an LBA should brush up and respond to them.
There is a thread at the top of this forum that tells Newbies to read it. Everyone with a ticket needs to read it.
Stop ignoring tickets it can very easily end up with people having to defend themselves in court.0 -
Best would be to get your employer/landowner to get them cancelled.
Otherwise follow the advice in the newbies FAQ thread near the top of the forum on how to deal with pcns from issue to defending in court0 -
What "offence" have you actually been charged with? Parking too long?
If all staff are suffering, then threaten the stores with industrial action unless they sort this out. I must affect each store manager as well so they may be sympathetic.0 -
Parked in a restricted area0
-
If the landowner will cancel them that would be the easiest solution.
If the landowner refuses to a few hundred people clogging their email box may make them change their minds as might dealing with a few hundred letters.
Other than that people need to get reading up on how to fight tickets.
Make sure the message gets through not to ignore these things. CP Plus are so easy to beat, even if they did try court lack of reliance on POFA should make their life very difficult in a number of cases.0 -
Why haven't your employers that pay the land owners to be on that site taken up this with the landowners?
How do the parking company idiots know they are staff cars?0 -

Then each person needs to read the NEWBIES thread and act appropriately depending on the stage they are at. No-one should pay nor should they say who was driving - PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT THAT.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
CLICK at the top or bottom of any page where it says:

Ok thank you! It's much appreciated !!!! I'm just reading through the newbies thread and I think I understand what we're to do i share this with the girls too 0

The land owner won't have anything to do with us, we have begged and pleaded with them.
I like the email idea though not though of that.
They just guess that we are staff, sometimes they sit in the carparks watching where we go once leaving our car.
We are also receiving tickets on our days off when shopping at the centre too 😞
Something I refused to do now! I will shop else where in future.0 -

Can you expand this a little please with more information. From your first post, it sounded as if you have parked in a proper car park that shoppers can use. But the above suggests this is not the case.
Do they have to pay and is there a restriction on the length of time they can stay?
I can't see immediately from your post how they can tell you are not a shopper per se. If this is a time restricted car park or one which is a pay and display and you didn't pay, then it all is relevant.
We really can't give specific help if we don't have the full picture.0
