Just to inform that after following the advice from this link;
http://www.learnmoney.co.uk/credit-cards/remove_default_notice.html
I have successfully had a default notice removed from my credit file.
I would advise all those suffering from the stigma of a default notice to follow the advice on the above thread, because as we are all aware the banks,cc companies and DCA's throw default notices around like confetti. They show no regard for following the correct procedures and then deploy underhand tactics to collect often uncollectable debts.
This week after writing to 1st Credit at the end of July this year, I have received a letter from them saying they will remove default entries from my credit file, and close one statute barred account. This is following some fairly weighty emails with them stating that the entries would remain, that they were not their responsibility etc. I then involved just about every authority possible, Information Commissioner, Trading Standards, Credit Services Agency (the 'governing body' for DCA's :rotfl:) and the Financial Ombudsman.
So anyway, to those out there with erroneous defaults notices, despite much advice to the contrary they can be removed. And to those who work in this seedy underhanded and devious industry...... up yours!
Hope this helps!

It really is just a case of writing to the company who have registered the default and informing them that you have never received it. They have to follow a specific procedure and they should be able to prove to you that a default notice has been issued. If they can not prove it, then it has not been issued and will have to be removed.
Just follow the letters from the link above.

Proud to be dealing with my debts! Love this forum :grouphug:0 -
Just wanted to add; I recently got Welcome Finance to remove the default notice they had issued me too - only took one letter! They may have been happier to do it because I'd paid them up fully at that point, but it's a real weight off your mind when it goes
Now, if only I could get the CCJ from GE Capita off there tooProud To Be Dealing With My Debts!

Can I ask, having had a quick look at the link, do 'learn money' make any charge for this service?I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

I have a mark against me from A&L because I went voerdrawn by 28p and have no overdraft limit.
I very kindly asked them to remove the 'payment late' mark from my credit report as I was not late, I went overdrawn and only a small amount... FOR 2 hours and it was because my agency hadn't paid me (they forgot - GRRRRR!!!).
they said no. outright...no.
I was really angry by this that not only did they charge me 36 pounds but they also put a negative mark on my credit report!
I was so angry!
I'm guessing there's nothing you can do here, huh?

You should certainly contest the charge, and, in my opinion you should send them a formal request that they remove the 'default' - copy it to the CEO of A&L.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. many thanks for your comments rog2.
I have printed out my statement for the month in question, plus a screen shot of my credit report.
I am going to try and find a template letter to use and also ask for my charge to be re-paid.
Watch this space!
Many thanks again,
