Notice of correction

Options
Hi, approximately 3 years ago I defaulted on payment with EE. The debt was passed to a debt recovery agency and the full balance was paid off in full in September last year. Upon looking at my credit file recently I have noticed the account is still in default with a balance of £22 being shown. I have had zero contact from EE or the previous debt recovery agency for the balance shown in the report since I paid off the balance in full. I have tried to contact the debt recovery agency but my account no longer exists and EE are the same. Do I file a notice of correction on my credit report and if so will that change the default status or affect my credit rating? Also if I do file a NOC, is there a set amount of time it takes for this to take affect ? Cheers tom

A NOC will not remove the default.

The account will show a settled default. If it doesn't, contact EE to ask them to update your credit files accordingly. If they do not do so, exhaust their complaints procedure and take it to the ICO. It likely wont be removed but updated to show it has been paid.

The default will stay on your files for 6 years, and a NOC will only mean that you'll be auto-referred for any credit application. It wont make a difference to the default existing however.

    Hi Tom,

The best thing to do is speak with our team to get the credit file looked into. You can email us on credit.queries@ee.co.uk, the team will aim to get back in touch with you within 48 hours. There's also alternative contact details if you'd prefer to call or write to us and much more information here https://community.ee.co.uk/t5/My-bills/How-EE-uses-Credit-File-Information-and-what-can-affect-your/td-p/364429.
