Additional claim if original claim was over 18 months ago?

Hi,

Some PPI Claims company has called me today, and they reackon that some additional funding has been made available for claims that have already been paid over 18 months ago.

Does anyone know if there's any truth in this? I did some searching, and the only thing I found was something to do with where 'comparitive redress' had been used, but it sounded like it might only apply to loans?

Assuming there's any truth in this, does it also apply to credit cards, as that's what my original claim was for? And if so, would it just be a case of phoning them up and asking them if 'comparitive redress' had been used in my original claim?

Any advice much appreciated...

Thanks

Comparative redress is where a refund is offered based on the difference in cost between single premium PPI and regular premium PPI rather than a full refund of all PPI paid. Since you can't have single premium PPI on Credit Cards it follows that you couldn't have been offered comparative redress

Thanks. So, as far as you're aware, if I've already succesfully made a claim for PPI on a credit card, then (regardless of when that claim was), there is no grounds for making a further claim?

They just want to sign you up as a customer.
Ignore such cold calls from any company and join the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) so that you are not subjected to spam (from the UK )

If you received a full refund of all PPI paid plus 8% interest, you will never receive any more. However, it is true that a few providers have been forced to look again at old cases rejected in error because of poor case handling.

If you remain uncertain you can contact your bank and ask if you had a full refund eighteen months ago. Easier would be to dig out the letter upholding your complaint which will have listed what was being refunded.

Certainly, don't sign up with any Claim Company...

    That isnt how redress works.

No. it isnt used with that.

The only time it can change on credit card PPI is if they made a guestimate of the amount as no evidence was available but later new evidence came to light which shows the amount was wrong. Typically, that means you finding statements. Or it was a rejected case.

Claims companies lie and lie and lie and lie.....

    They have no special powers
They use the same complants system you did
The canot know your credit history
They're very interested in at least 30% of your potential money.

Still want to listen to them?

I love the bit about 'addiional funding' as if some kind soul has decided to make more money available. This is not how it works. Banks have to pay exactly what you're entitled to.
