PIP -CM getting advice from a senior?

Options
Hi All

Been on PIP for around 3 years, had a face to face assessment last month. Been waiting for the outcome for the last 4 weeks.
I called the helpline last week and the guy I spoke to was very helpful, and said that the HP report suggested I would continue to be entitled, and in fact could received another element of PIP-daily living . He explained nothing set in stone but seemed positive.

I rang again today(not doing myself any favours I know), this time the guy wasn't too helpful and just said that the CM has had to get advice from a senior/more experienced officer, and was expecting it back tomorrow.

Of course now I am in a state wondering what this means? Does it mean that the CM doesn't agree with the assessment report and I will loose my PIP?

They suggested I call again on Friday, but I wont be, as its just adding to my stress levels !

The person you previously spoke to should never have told you anything until a decision has been made. Who ever that was, was wrong to do so! You can ring and ask for a copy of the assessment report and they'll send it out to you. It's good to have this anyway in case the decision doesn't go in your favour and you ask for the Mandatory Reconsideration (MR).
When you say CM i'm thinking you mean DM? (decision maker) This sometimes happens when they ask others for advice. It's also been known for them to send to report back to the assessment providers. It could be good or bad but no one can tell you exactly what it means. I know it's stressful as been through it all myself twice. The review was worse knowing i already had an award. A decision will be made soon i'm sure, until then there's nothing you can do except ring and ask for a copy of that report. This will give you some idea on what the decision will be as mostly they go with the report.
  • He did say he shouldnt be telling me but proceded to tell me anyway. He even told me the weekly rate-£55 i think- and that it would be back dated.
This whole PIP process is beyond stressfil:(

Indeed he shouldn't have unless a decision had been made, which i highly doubt it had at that time. Hopefully you won't have to wait too long. Do have a think about ringing for that assessment report. Even if it's not needed it's good to have it to hand for your next review, if your PIP continues.
  • So apparently the case manager went back to the Assessor and now the case manager is ringing me today to ask me a few questions before a decision can be mad.
    I feel sick with worry.

They probably just want to clarify a few things. At least you know they're ringing. During my PIP review last year the DM rang me and asked me a question without warning. It was about my mobility. If you have a copy of the PIP2 form maybe having a look at that to refresh your memory. Good luck.
  • She wanted to check the date i noticed a change in my mobility and if it was a specific incident.
She gave nothing away and said i should hear next week.

Exactly the reason why i was called. I rang the following day and a decision had been made. I went from Standard to Enhanced mobility. Please do let us know the outcome.

A decision will more than likely be made sometime today. Try ringing tomorrow because it can take 24 hours for the info to go from one computer to another.
  • Rang today and have been awarded standard daily living of £55.66pw but nothing for mobility. Previously just getting standard mobility after going to tribunal.
Got mixed feelings as this was a c/c but no back pay awarded. Woman I spoke to said it was awarded from 21.7.17 which is when I spoke to the decision maker.
I am grateful, but what you have to go through, Im not sure I will continue applying.

Although it doesn't sound like you're happy with that award. It does mean you'll be getting more money every 4 weeks. Backpay depends on when it's awarded and in your case it was from the day you spoke to the DM. When i had my review last year i was backdated a few weeks, not sure exactly how long but it certainly wasn't from the date of the decision. Remember you have 1 month from the date of decision if you want to ask for the MR.
