Credit Hire Court Summons - Experiences?

I look at it another way. I see a bunch of chancers who are fleecing the insurance companies by renting out ridiculously over-priced cars to people who have just had an accident and don't really know what is going on.
Every time they get away with it, the cost of claims goes up, and that means that everybody's premiums go up.
Some insurance companies are now fighting back, and refusing to pay over-inflated car hire charges that they never agreed to in the first place. It's about time they did.
Having been through the whole non-fault claims process recently the way I see it is if the insurance companies actually got their act together, worked more efficiently, offered non-fault claimers the same service provided by AMC, their costs and our costs will all be alot lower.
For example why it takes 2 weeks for an insurance company to review as 30 second dash cam clip I sent in??0 -

Would these be the same chancers that the non-fault motorist's insurer actually recommended to the motorist (because the insurer got a kick back from the chancer and it would be someone else picking up the tab)?
Insurers are their own worst enemy ... if they didn't keep looking for the quick buck and actually put their own houses in order, everyone would benefit.0 -
So I just had the third party insurer on the phone to 'discuss' arrangements for the hire car I'm currently in - my total hire car rental will be over 120 days due to length of repair/replacement. Hopefully by the end of today the AMC supplying the car will have an agreement with the third party insurance an acceptable hire rate/cost for all involved.
Yes there are AMC who are out to make money, but the company am dealing with have done an aweason job. Helping me get best settlement outcome, supplying me with a rental car I'm happy with, and actively working with both insurance companies to get the claim settled ASAP. They deserve to be financially compensated for the hard work they have put it.
If my own insurance company or the third party insurance company had offered a similar level of service I would be happy to gone with them, but they couldn't, so I had no choice but to go with an accident management company.0 -

Ah, so everything is still actually "in flux" and nothing's completed. Sounds like your praise may be a bit early ... what if the AMC don't get agreement with the TP insurer about car hire costs?0 -

Actually my case is now sorted, third party insurer has come to an agreement with the AMC on the daily hire car costs for the reminder of my claim.
But I feel bad for the OP, the whole insurance industry needs to get their act together so innocent parties aren't left in the OPs position.0 -

It has been, the car was only 3 months old and I have a 'new for old' policy on my insurance, the replacement car will take 3/4 months to arrive (Tesla Model X).0 -
Hello All, first time using a forum, but I'm desperate and scared.
I recently had an accident and my insurance company referred me to a credit hire company, making me believe it was the best approach for my case. I stupidly didn't question them and took on the contract with the car hire company.
I had a witness for my accident, but they didn't return calls and as the other party had a witness in the end I had to take blame.
The credit hire compay are now demanding £10k for hire of the car as I gave the "misleading information". But i was truthful at all time and I still recall the story as I did before. I have no job & a baby. I literally have no money in the bank. I'm relying on child benifits and hand ours from family. I'm so scared to be taken to court and made bankrupt. Any advice where can turn to?0 -
Hi Shelly,
First time for me here too, I really feel for you and am in a potentially worse situation possibly owing £22k, £11k at best.
I'm so angry, basically I feel the accident management company tricked me into using this dodgy credit hire firm. They have both colluded in taking ages to do a simple repair on my car, and gave me an Audi A5 for 2 and a half months racking up astronomical charges of £268 a day!
The car was so rubbish I didn't even think it was worth that amount of money, and constantly I was assured that I would be fine and nothing will happen to me. I was basically hit by a HGV on a motorway at night from the back shunted, and at first the TP's insurance company wouldn't admit liability. Now they may go 50/50 but that means I'll have to personally pay off half that amount. These motorway shunts don't seem straight forward because stupid scammers have been taking advantage and slamming brakes in front of lorries. Now they think everyone who gets hit by one on the road at night is a scammer.
I didn't read the contract properly before taking out the car or bother checking what it says if I'm found at fault, and both the Credit Hire firm or Accident Management company weren't purposely warning me of my potential disaster. This is so much money and I can't believe how badly i have been fooled by them.
I'm wondering if there's a way i can prove in court that
A) the daily hire charge is excessiveThey took too long to do a simple repair (changing tailgate, lights and bumper)
C) Rushed me into signing and taking away this car
D) Gave me a car higher in class than what I had.
Worst part is I had some money in my bank account (savings to buy a house), i could have hired myself much cheaper car until mine got repaired. However i really needed that money during the house exchange for a hefty deposit £65k
I'm so upset heartbroken, I'm usually very careful with money and don't like to indulge. I needed to pay for a shoulder operation I can't get on NHS and my sons private school. I have absolutely no money now, and this bill from these scam artists will drive me to bankruptcy.
Why doesn't the government protect ordinary citizens from these kinds of scam artists? The insurance industry is rife with problems.
Surely some risk should fall on the credit hiring firm to assess whether giving me the car is suitable looking at the case?
I would have preferred if TP insurers gave me a loan on reasonable interest to buy another car until mine is repaired or better still give me their own car. These insurance companies in this country are so lazy and incompetent the way they work. A simple communication between both parties could keep these scamming hire companies out of the loop. Now I don't even care about the accident itself, to who is at fault but keep kicking myself for using this damn car hire firm!0 -
If you were honest with the credit hire company about the circumstances of the accident there should be no come back on you for the charges.
They charge a very hefty premium for loaning you the car on credit and part of that is for them taking the risk they won't get paid. If you gave them an honest account of the accident it is up to them to assess the chances of them recovering the money.
You having money in your account is an issue but if you had a genuine need for the money then it won't be an issue.
You do however have an obligation to assist the credit hire company recovering the money.
Which credit hire company is it?0
