  • I really like the idea of 'olde English' words as use for naming houses etc. On the LTT - bird idea, I'd like to vote for a couple of other names (apart from barrel bum), the names I'd like to propose are 'Mumruffin' Cottage and 'Jack-in-a-bottle' Cottage. I think you said the cottage was small - hence why the second choice appeals to me for some reason.

Feel QUITE free to ignore :D

I have no doubt you will come up with summat quite, quite creative, and adorn the walls suitably - have you ever painted cows? :D

I like it too Greent - but my friend who'll be living there didn't like the idea of being the Barrelbum :rotfl:

I like Mumruffin Greying - there's also Broc, Wink-a-puss and Hotchi-witchi to consider :rotfl:

If it wasn't for my friend needing to move I'd probably be dragging my feet about it Beanie. Any money we make is destined for mortgage OPs so better sooner than later.

  • Had a lovely lunch out with my friend today - chic venue, fabulous food and a good catch up all for £10. We talked through the Cottage practicalities and agreed everything that needed to be agreed.

I bought some treats for FDawg whilst I was out - he is so spoilt :o And I bought some treats for myself too - two new tops for everyday and one for going out. I've worn out some old favourites so have been on the look out for some good value replacements.

So not a frugal day but a very welcome indulgent one after my weeks of confinement :D

Hope you've had a great start to the week

We've had glorious sunshine here for days :D and what a difference it's made. I feel almost back to full health.

I'm nearly caught up on housework and we've even started sorting out the garden :T Only seven month's of neglect to remedy :o

We've had good financial news. Mr F has had a payrise - not enough to keep up with inflation but enough to make a small difference. He's also going to get his full bonus this year :j So, next steps are:
    • make the very first overpayment to the mortgage :T This will include a regular monthly amount and the Tilly Tidies I've been saving up for the last few months
    • boost the emergency savings
    • book in the outstanding work for the barn drainage and drive repair
    • find an electrician and get power to the barn restored
    • get the annex ready for renting. Anything I make on the Bay will go towards that.

I also have my usual budget for home improvement and am thinking I might get lots of the little things on my list rather than one bigger item. That way I'll feel as though I've made lots of progress ;)

I still have outstanding routine appointments and social calls to catch up on so will start nibbling away at those.

It's going to be a very busy month but I think I can manage that now.

Hope you're all remembering the sunscreen. Not that I'm a bit pink or anything :o
