  • Yay to Mr F being home. Boo to virtual working. Mr Wish has also landed, and
Immediately crashed out sleeping like a student. (I refuse to say sleeping like a baby anymore, my baby doesn't sleep as well as his dad, ever!)

Could you not persuade the builders to make good the damage they have done to your drive?

    Have a lovely, restful weekend

Our drive is just earth with gravel on top and it needed repairing when we moved in. There didn't seem much point in doing it when we knew the diggers were coming. I've priced up the 18 tonnes of gravel we're going to need  and it's not as bad as I thought it would be. We can probably do it in stages too and spread out the cost. Mr F is going to move the existing gravel about a bit today so that we at least have a good covering by the house doors to stop the mud coming in.

My plans for a peaceful weekend have been put back a bit - boss builder is here compacting stones so that the concrete can be poured on Monday  At least they'll be finished earlier I suppose.

  • Mr F and I are taking it easy this weekend. There will be enough cleaning and cooking in the coming week to be going on with. We have got a few little bits and pieces done:
    • we gave FDawg a proper bath - he was getting a bit stinky and his twice daily mud removal wasn't quite enough to freshen him up :o
    • Mr F carried out a repair on his truck
    • he also went into town to pick up some plumbing supplies for the builders - £40.43  I said the builders should pick up the cost for this but apparently it's an extra thing which hasn't been accounted for in the quote
    • there are no removal boxes left in the house :T I'd like to say they have all been properly unpacked but I fear a few have been redistributed to the annex :o
    • a couple of outdoor decorations have been put up. Just a couple as I'm not one for big, external, flashing, light displays but enough to make the front door look welcoming :)
This afternoon's plans are fluid. Mr F may put a couple of things up. I think I'll get through a bit more of the washing and ironing and perhaps make banana ice cream. I have some sulky bananas to use up and am planning to make a banana sundae for pudding on Christmas Eve - apparently the family are staying for lunch.

We sat in front of the log burner last night with a bottle of red and I started working on my goals for the coming year. Nothing surprising came up - just a continuation of this year's really. However, it did prompt me to visualise life here when the building works are complete and the better weather arrives. I think it's going to be fabulous :D

    Have a great Sunday folks

Well it already sounds fabulous to me. In my next home a wood burning stove is non negotiable :)

  • I've just had a look back at my goals for 2017. Amazing to think that this time last year we hadn't even made the decision to move. What a roller coaster it has been. We have:
    • a new home :D
    • and half a garage :D
    • some new friends :D
    • a dog
    • celebrated two milestone family birthdays
    • got Mr F settled into a new job
    • survived storms and snow
    • and I gained a new qualification

most of which has happened in the last five months

    Blimey.

Some things we'd intended to focus on became less of a priority but those will jump up the list for next year.

How surreal it all feels. We moved the mountain after all.

I'm very excited about 2018. It feels as though most of the hard work is over and we can start enjoying the fruits of our labours.

Thank you all for your support and advice over the year. It was very, very appreciated.
