  • one man's trash is another man's treasure. Some of the items I listed on the Bay just to be rid of them have turned out to be my best sellers :T So I now have enough to buy Mr F his shaving mirror :)

My next home improvement goal is a kitchen bin that will handle both general rubbish and recycling. My old Ik£a recycling bins were great but I don't have anywhere to keep them now and they are living outside and being blown around the courtyard every time the wind gets up. They are not designed to be outdoor bins either so keep filling up with water and attracting flies :o The bin I'd like is quite expensive though so it might take me a while to save for it.

There was no charge for FDawg's first vet visit :) but I did sign up to the payment plan for his routine visits and treatments. It will save me about £70 per year :T Our session with the dog trainer was very helpful and well worth the money. I've booked a follow up visit for next month but it will be for a shorter time and cost a lot less.

Mr F is finally home :j but very jet lagged so we are snuggled up in front of the log burner with a glass of wine after a supper of Cod & Chorizo Stew with crusty bread and butter. We have discovered the fire burns really well when it's windy outside - just as well really :rotfl:

    Happy weekend everyone

  • I'm always amazed at what sells well on fleabay. There's no logic to me. So I've now taken to listing everything again and again and it seems to go, you just need the right person to look at it ;) It helps so much with the cash coming in too, every little helps as they say. Lovely to have a goal to work towards (plus it gives me an excuse for an extra line on my spreadsheet :o) We decided last week to save for a new computer so in a box went and we have 10.51 in there at the moment, but I sold 4 items on fleabay last night so a bit more will go in too.

You seemed to have settled in so well, particularly considering Mr F has been away and the arrival of pooch. I'm so pleased it's worked out for you.

Glad FDawg is settling in so well Fortune, we are hoping to take the plunge and get a dog next year : )
  • ... just busy being busy.

Budgets are holding although I am irritated that my home improvement plans are due to be disrupted by Christmas  Although a 'Secret Santa' approach has been suggested for this year's presents which will mean a huge saving :T

Mr F has a couple of weeks at home so we have even squeezed in a bit of a social life :)

FDawg settles in more each week and his cheeky side is emerging - half the things that turn up in his bed I didn't even know we had :rotfl: He is a particular fan of the Rad10 T1m£$ :rotfl:

Decluttering continues although I've taken a break from The Bay - there's only so much of that a girl can stand ;) I'm sure to be drawn back soon though as I've still got my eye on the posh bin

Hope all is going well guys.

  • I'm sure time speeds up as we get towards the end of a year ;)

    On the MS up side:
    • the DSS's and partners will be coming to us the day before Christmas Eve this year
    • I have started adding a few Christmas items to my grocery shopping each week to help spread the cost of food
    • we will be doing a Secret Santa and I asked the DSS's to set the budget. It's way, way below what we would usually spend :T
    • I am still going to send a gift to other family members but this will be one gift for each family and I've reduced the budget here too
    • there are a couple of decorations I would like to get but I'm keeping an eye out for pre-Christmas sale prices before I take the plunge on those
    • the 'extra' salary Mr F received in his September pay packet turned out to be a bonus for putting someone forward for a job. There's a similar amount due when that person completes their probation :T
    • we are now only 4 payments away from reaching the maximum amount we pledged towards DS1's house deposit
    • budgets are holding and day to day MS habits continue

And on the MS sticky slope:
    • my mains vacuum has stopped working and is beyond repair :( I have bought a replacement :o Because I don't have enough vacuum cleaners :o Stop laughing Greying :p
    • I am having a break from The Bay. Two of my recent parcels failed to arrive and one did get to the buyer but the packaging was ripped to shreds  I am blaming the new parcel paper I bought which was obviously not fit for purpose  Anyways, I've lost the will to live with it for the moment.

Mr F is off on his travels next week so I'd better get the washing and ironing done today. Otherwise I'll be sending him off without any pants... again :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Must check the heating oil level as well. I had 500 litres delivered a month or so ago and want to see how much we've used of that so far. We've have the timer set so that the heating comes on for a half hour in the morning and the same in the evening each day, however, I've switched it on manually a few times recently and I think we're getting to the point where it will need to go on for longer.

FDawg continues to progress. We are able to let him off the lead now and it's lovely to see him racing around the field. He keeps one eye on the sheep but his recall is excellent so far. Means I don't have to worry about him getting out and running off or worrying the livestock around and about. Next steps are to work on socialisation. He's still very nervous around strangers and other dogs.

Hope all is well with you lovely peeps.
