I'm also really surprised by the number of people who don't seem to understand what these measures are for: to protect the vulnerable and make sure we don't overstretch an already overstretched health service (and don't get me started on the number of people I know who work in the NHS who are flouting the rules and posting photos of all their gatherings on social media...) I'm sorry that they're affecting you directly but your plans for hibernation sound perfect.Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20178

Fortune, I'm so sorry that you felt so upset in yoga class, but you definitely made the right decision to depart the class when you did! There is no point in exposing yourself unnecessarily when health concerns are an underlying factor! Sending loving & supportive vibes your way! xx RT4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! As a nation we really are a bunch of selfish eejits. Learned absolutely nothing from March and April except "well I didn't really like lockdown and I hate masks so I'm just going to go and live my life as I want and I don't care who I hurt."
I promise not to have a rant on your diary Fortune, but I'm sorry that you came across such people in your yoga classYou dealt with it in a very dignified way, I'd have been sorely tempted to make a sarcastic comment on my way out (such as "if I'd known you all wanted me dead I would have given this a miss").

Thats shocking re your yoga class how selfish not to mention stoopid. Think I'm getting a bit reclusive myself and most contact apart from my support bubble is online these days.6

I am really sorry to hear about your experience at yoga and am sending you a virtual bunch of flowers. I have been finding the current situation very difficult too as I feel quite forgotten (I was on shielding list), so I wanted to reassure you that you are not the only one.Your produce yields are amazing! Hope you enjoy all those lovely veggies.Take care CM9

Sending virtual hugs fortune. I think people are not thinking through what they are saying. My mum said ' we need to stop mucking about and just let it go through us all' she soon changed her tune when I pointed out that you could tell she didn't have any issues with her lungs unlike her son in law, who she adores. Yes we probably do need to do that to get herd immunity but at what cost. I'm not willing to sacrifice my husband so everyone can go on as normal. I can't believe your guests left the holiday let in such a state. We always make sure everything is left how we find it unless told to do otherwise. Covid seems to have affected peoples moral compass, or perhaps its just showing who are the jerks or the hypocritics.
Take care

Some lovely people in your yoga class ~~ not.
Some people live in a blooming bubble.
You are well out of that. x
I know! They are all of a certain age and some have health issues. I really was expecting them to be more sensible.themadvix said:Oh Fortune, I feel for you. People can be so selfish. I think that you're doing the right thing by 'hermiting' a bit and avoiding people. While we've not exactly been out gallivanting, there's definitely something seasonally appealing about preparing to hunker down for the winter and having some quiet time.
Good news about the wood though - will this saving cover the cost of the apple man? Lots of good things in money news and your meals, as always, sound delicious! (I'm not sure you can blame bake-off quite yet - it's only been cake week!).
I know what you mean @themadvix - this time of year definitely sees me withdrawing into my cosy burrow for the winter 😆 I'd budgeted for wood and Apple Man so some money is going back into the pot. The trouble with B@k£ 0ff is one is never quite enough 😆 The new series has set me off and I'm binge watching previous seasons now 😮badmemory said:At least you found out the attitude of the yoga class before you got too far in. I believe that some of the problem comes from them calling it social distancing instead of physical distancing. It seems to have given a lot of people the feeling that they have the right to behave badly because they are no longer part of a society.
I think you might be right there @badmemory. I was wearing a mask too. Apart from wearing a tee shirt with 'Keep Away From Me' emblazoned across the front, I don't know what else to do.South_coast said:How awful! I don't blame you for leaving the yoga class, but I'm sorry your plans for meeting up with family are being affected. I think there's going to be much more resistance from people this time around - but evidently these people aren't taking any notice of the news, as the stats are very clear!
It's a bit frustrating @South_coast but I'm very grateful that we're not facing any real challenges. I am beginning to think I credit people with a little too much intelligence based on some of the behaviour I've seen 😮

I was starting to lose my faith in humanity @ruby_eskimo but then you lovely lot popped up and reminded me that there are good people out there ❤rtandon27 said:Fortune, I'm so sorry that you felt so upset in yoga class, but you definitely made the right decision to depart the class when you did! Thank you @rtandon27 - I'm feeling far more relaxed now I've resigned myself to hibernation 😆VintageHistorian said:As a nation we really are a bunch of selfish eejits. I wish I had thought of saying that @VintageHistorian 😂😂😂 That would have been the perfect come back. It actually helps to know that others are feeling just as indignant as I am. I wondered after whether I'd over reacted.teapot2 said:Thats shocking re your yoga class how selfish not to mention stoopid. I'm even pulling out of some online stuff at the moment @teapot2. I'm happy just to cozy up in front of the fire with a glass of wine at the moment.

Awh - thank you for the virtual flowers @Cornish_mum. Make sure you find some ways to keep your spirits up. Mr F is away this weekend so I'm planning long, hot bubble baths with candles, cozy nights in front of the fire watching Bak£ 0ff and All Cr£atur£$ Gr£at & Small, plus the odd glass of wine and posh chocolate (to balance out all the veggies of course 😆)the_cross_rabbit said:Sending virtual hugs fortune. Me neither @the_cross_rabbit! Mr F is a grumpy old thing sometimes but I wouldn't want to lose him! I've only had two sets of guests who've left the place messy and caused damage so I've been lucky I guess. It goes with the territory but it's still annoying when it happens. Maybe those who don't want to follow the rules could opt to trial a vaccine - at least then they'd be contributing something useful to society 😂

You lovely, lovely lot...
... you really have restored my faith in humanity 💖
I made a good start with home yoga and did a hour after walking FDawg yesterday. It must be doing something as I could really feel my triceps today. My meditation cushion arrived this afternoon so I'm fully equipped to continue with another session tomorrow 😁
I did the monthly money shuffle this morning and set the budget for November... November! How did that happen? Although I'm not too upset that this year seems to be rapidly coming to an end. I also put some money aside for Christmas 😮 Although I'm not entirely sure what that will be spent on this time round.
The money from my yoga term should be refunded so I've decided to spend it on two things. A new alarm clock. The display on my old one has gradually faded over the years and is now unreadable... which defeats the object really 😆 And some sheepskin slippers 😁 My current ones are mules and very difficult to walk in. The insides of the soles are very worn and one is uncomfortable now. So some new cosy slippers will be just the thing for my winter hibernation 😁
We had Courgette Carbonara for supper last night, Feta, Sweetcorn & Chard Tacos for lunch today and we've just finished a delicious supper of Slow-Cooked Sausages in Apple Gravy with mash and peas 😋 Real comfort food and we've opened a bottle from the recently delivered case of wine to go with it because... well because 😆 The courgettes, chard, apples and potatoes were our own home grown.
I was hoping to have a freezer full of blackberries by now but there don't seem to be many around. I've only managed about 500 grams so far 🙁 I'll have another forage tomorrow.
Happy Tuesday all
