Another Lovely Day
It's so nice to have the weekends to ourselves with no time pressures. Today would have been perfect in other circumstances.
We spent most of the day in the garden. Mr F dug over and composted the remaining beds in the veg patch. I planted about a hundred white onion sets, put up a wigwam for the beans and erected various other frames for bird and insect netting. The plot's looking fabulous now - like a real life vegetable garden 😎 If the weather holds, Mr F will start digging up some of the top field for extra veg beds tomorrow and I'll do more planting. We've run out of garden twine though and I've realised I'm missing some seeds so will place an order later.
We had leftover Sausage Traybake for lunch and Warm Couscous Salad with Halloumi for supper. We ate the last of the Blackcurrant & Lemon Curd Cake with our coffee this morning so I've made an Orange & Polenta Cake to use up the blood oranges that came in last week's veg box. It's in the oven now and smells amazing 😋
I finished another octopus on the mirror. Two more to go and then I'll start painting some extra tentacles here and there. I'm so enjoying this project. It's inspired me to do more - I've been looking around the house for other items which could benefit from a little embellishment 😎 I may have covered every surface by the time we're out of lock down 🤣
I hope everyone is well and enjoying their weekend.

Excellent garden progress there Fortune! Very impressive. We've been outside too, but it's been cold here so not for long. Compost bin is nearly finished then I'll be building my fence to keep the beaky menaces out of the veg and then I might get round to planting some seeds...5

Sounds like a most productive day in the shire. Love the octopus too. Thank you again for sharing your recipes. If you like the orange and polenta cake you might want to try this one. It’s lovely

especially if you don’t have any butter in (or are saving it for something else) and is GF if you use GF baking powder. I’ve used any old small orange in it and it’s been lovely.Stay safe.5 -
Thank you Cheery. It was cold here too - the wind was bitter. Mr F needs to move/extend the fence around the veg patch so we can put some extra beds in. I still have red onion, garlic, new potatoes, main crop potatoes, marrow, courgette, butternut squash, green beans and carrots to go in. I hope it all fits 😆Cheery_Daff said:Excellent garden progress there Fortune! Very impressive. We've been outside too, but it's been cold here so not for long. That cake sounds fabulous Purp. I had clementines in my veg box this week so I think they've found their purpose now 😁PurpleFairy26 said:Sounds like a most productive day in the shire.
