What a grey day it was yesterday. I stayed inside and got the ironing done and the guest beds made up.
Today is a cleaning day as DS is due tomorrow and, on my rounds this morning, I discovered what I thought was a roof leak on the bathroom floor  A closer look revealed it was a large tea stain. Mr F is the culprit of course. He can't have not noticed at the time  Anyone would think he was five not fifty odd :rotfl:
Lunch was Smoked Haddock & Sweetcorn Chowder and the supper plan is Thai Prawn & Ginger Noodles. Not sure how I've managed two fish dishes in one day but there are things that need using up so a marine theme it is.
Anyhow, the bathrooms are beckoning (tea stains and all) and the grocery delivery is due soon so I'd better get a wriggle on.
Hope the week is treating you all kindly so far.

...well apart from Mr F :rotfl:
Took DS to the station at lunchtime after a lovely, fun few days. So that's the last of my visitors for now and I'm looking forward to getting into more of a routine.
I spent the afternoon weeding another vegetable bed. Lettuce this time, of which there are two :rotfl: There was a third but we ate it over the weekend and very delicious it was too :rotfl: I did discover a few wayward spring onions around the edges so that was a bonus. There is no sign yet of the spinach.
We now have the full quote for the refurb and can meet the costs. Mr F wants to meet the builder again to discuss some final details and then we can start talking timescales. Our savings account is going to look very depleted though and I don't feel it will be a big enough emergency fund in light of our new mortgage payments. So our next financial goal will be to get our savings back up to a more comfortable level. Then we will start OPing.
Supper tonight was Coconut Fish Curry Traybake. Tomorrow I will have to do something with plums. We have a tree and have picked all the fruit to save it from the wasps. It seems they have been eating those as well as all the wood from our windows  Anyhow, I made a plum crumble when DS was here but there are quite a few left.
Talking of wasps. After the spectacular failure of the fake nests we have resorted to a traditional wasp trap. So far we are averaging over 100 per day  I hate to kill any creature but they are causing some serious damage to the house and are due to die off naturally pretty soon. I will need to order some more traps and some lantern stakes to hang them on if I'm going to win this battle...
... sweet dreams :eek::rotfl:

By the sounds of it you could almost live off the produce of your garden!
Good news about the refurb quotes, at least it's money invested into you house even if it does knock your savings a bit
Hope you have a nice, peaceful bank holiday weekend!MFiT-T4 #75: £142,480 to £86,700 by Jan 2019

It's certainly far more productive than our last garden PG but I think we've got a very long way to go before we're self sufficient.. unless one can live off runner beans alone :rotfl: We've got plenty of those :rotfl:
Hope you're having a great weekend too.

I had a lazy day yesterday. Mr F went off 4x4 adventurising and I sat on the sofa and researched and planned and plotted and dreamed
I did manage to get up long enough to make a Plum Crumble though. And I'm very glad I chose this recipe - it was delicious and used up all the plums we had left
As the sun was shining today we decided to make hay and went off to the Steam Fair to have a lovely time. It was a great show with lots to see and we picked up some lantern hooks for the wasp war and a little whimsy for the house. A couple of coffees and a light lunch meant that we've already made a dent in September's fun money  But then it could be raining next weekend couldn't it
I made a tuna salad for supper with whatever I could find in the fridge including Minted Courgette Salad and Grated Carrot Salad with Orange Dressing. And of course there was leftover Plum Crumble for afters
Hope you've all been enjoying the sunshine.

I travelled out to a not so near by market town yesterday to join a creative writing group. It was a bit of a trek but they are the nearest group I could find. They turned out to be a lovely bunch and I left feeling very inspired so it was worth the trip. Spent a bit in fuel cost but found free parking and subs for coffee were 50p so it didn't break the bank. It's only once a month too so I will definately go again.
Mr F is away for business... again. He's left me a copy of his diary for the next couple of months and there's a danger that I may forget what he looks likeI shall just have to go out and make some friends
I've made a start. One of our neighbours invited me round for tea yesterday. They are a lovely couple and gave me lots of history about the area.
Today's plan is shopping and house cleaning... sigh. I suppose you can't have adventures every day.
Happy hump day all

Brilliant find for the writing group Fortune.
I'm the same as you in terms of forgetting what hubby looks like. He went away last Thursday. Is back Saturday night, leaving Sunday. Back by the next weekend. It can be hard, but I get used to the house being tidy and devoid of piles of things he's had out and not put away.Outstanding mortgage: £23,181 (December 19)

Ditto on the absent husband front. Mine will have been home for a total of eight days in August! And a whole two weeks of July :rotfl:
Echoing WishingTMA, it's nice having a tidy house, and I don't mind a bit of solitudeMFiT-T4 #75: £142,480 to £86,700 by Jan 2019
