  • A full night's sleep :T I went up to bed early, fell asleep straight away, was not woken up by Mr F coughing and woke up naturally before the canine alarm went off. Bliss!

Mr F has gone off to race 4x4s for the weekend. Against my advice, as I don't think he's fully recovered, but at least I might get another good night's sleep tonight.

My guests have arrived and seem happy. I have left them toffee apples :D

It's been a spendy day today as I've started booking for Christmas and New Year events. Things book up quite quickly so I wanted to make sure we have tickets for the things we want to do and taxis where needed.

All chores for the week are complete so I'm going to spend the weekend making more early Christmas preparations.

    Have a great weekend all

Ooh you're organised thinking about Christmas! :j :j I started making a list of potential presents... but that's it :o

I'm sure your guests very much appreciated toffee apples! :j

It seems they did Cheery. I pointed them in the direction of a local fireworks display so they had a very seasonal time. They left me a glowing review :D

I'm late thinking about Christmas this year. I usually start planning in July

  • I'm being foiled on all counts at the moment :(

Having saved up enough in the Tittervating Pot to pay for mud flaps for the car, I called the local dealer to put in an order. Apparently mud flaps were never made for my model  And the ones that they had cut down to fit in the past have been discontinued  Very annoying. Mr F is going to have a look this weekend to see if he can fashion something himself. That does mean that the Tittervating Pot can be used for other purposes now so I think a second blue sideboard is on the cards :)

A friend blew me out for a shopping trip we'd planned next week. Very disappointed :( It's a long time since I've had a girly shopping day and I was really looking forward to it. I thought I would still go on my own but Mr F has now arranged a work trip so it would mean putting FDawg in the kennel for the day. I might check his diary and go on another day.

The J0hn L£wi$ partial refund for the bathroom cabinet has been credited to my account as gift vouchers, despite my being promised a cash refund  There are things I could do with putting the vouchers toward but they are all out of stock at the moment

What a lot of angry faces :rotfl: I'm not really that grumpy - a first world problem after all, trying to spend money ;) I did fall of the dieting wagon though but it's the first day in 12 weeks so I'm not going to beat myself up about it.

I've lost 17 lbs in total since starting the diet and am just 7 lbs off my target weight. I may even get there before Christmas :T I am virus free so far this season and my yoga teacher commented this week that my meditation position had improved. So I'm winning on the health goals front :j Far more important than buying stuff ;)

We are warm and dry too for which I am extremely grateful. Our lower field does get a little soggy but, in the main, the water seems to drain away quickly and there's no danger of it coming into the house. I feel dreadful for those who are flooded out this morning.

    Counting blessings.

  • We have snow :snow_grin It came down very heavily this morning for a few hours so everything was white and crisp and even :D Then it turned to sleet and most has washed away now :D That's my kind of snow :rotfl: Sticks around to look pretty for a couple of hours then melts away before you have to go anywhere or do anything :rotfl:

FDawg is back in basic training :rotfl: He's been pulling harder on the lead on his walks so we've gone back to square one to try again with loose leash walking. He's currently confined to walks on the drive until he gets the hang of things. A bit dull for him though so we put up his agility equipment in the top field this morning to give him something interesting to do. We'd just finished when the snow started.

Other than that it's been a lazy sort of a day. We had Kale & Goat's Cheese Frittata for lunch and Butternut Squash & Sage Risotto for supper. I don't usually post my breakfast recipes but this morning we had Ricotta Panakes with Winter Fruit Compote & Vanilla Yoghurt and it was delicious :D A bit time consuming but well worth the effort.

I also made the Christmas Cake. It's in the oven as I type smelling all festive and yummy :D

Mr F has made up the log burner and we are snuggled up watching T0y St0ry 4. Just the thing on a cold and snowy evening.

    Stay warm all

Goodness me Fortune, snow?? We were forecast some but aside from a very few flakes in the breeze that stuck to my coat for a second, we've had nothing. Does indeed sound like the perfect kind of snow though :j

I"m very impressed with your cooking. I only had tea tonight courtesy of the slow cooker stew I didn't eat on Friday, oh dear! :o

We watched Toy Story 4, it's a beautiful film :)

We can see the Welsh mountains from the house and they are still covered with snow. Fortunately it's clear here now.

I love cooking - I find it meditative... plus I love eating so it's a win, win for me :rotfl:

I did enjoy the film. It's rare that Mr F and I find a film that a) he hasn't seen already on a flight to somewhere and b) we both would like to watch. There are a couple of others on Am@z0n at the moment that fit the bill so I'd better schedule a viewing quickly before he goes of on his travels again :rotfl:

Hope your cellar is dry Cheery - I mean not damp rather than devoid of wine ;)

  • Mr F marched in the town Remembrance Parade today. There was a huge turn out and the street was lined with hundreds of people wearing poppies. The Parade started in the town square and all the pubs were serving free drinks for service personnel and veterans. Some were providing bacon butties as well. It's only a small town but the support was tremendous. It made me feel very proud of my community.

We stayed on for a drink after and Mr F made a few new friends among the veterans. Then, as it was still quite early, we went for lunch at our new local restaurant. The food was fabulous and very reasonable. It was Mr F's first visit and he loved the place, which is a good job really as we are booked in there for Christmas lunch. Spends will come from this month's fun money. With Mr F being away so much, we haven't spent much fun money so I thought it was time we had a treat.

We went for a little stroll around the grounds after lunch. It's a woodland setting and we spotted lots of fungi. I tried to identify them when we got home and one is called an Artist's Bracket fungus, named because you can draw on the underside by scratching the surface. An artist had already been in residence it seems as one of the brackets had been carved into a face. It was such fun to spot it.

We are so full from lunch that we've decided to skip supper although I may indulge in a glass of wine this evening :o

    Have a great evening all
