HELP PLEASE! Regarding My Car

Hello Forum,
I bought a Peugeot 207 GT last year brand new from the dealers it cost around £15,000.
I think in the past year it has been in the dealers being repaired for about 5 weeks.
We noticed a problem with the engine and everytime we sent it back they said they couldnt find it, its now been in for 3 weeks and they know what the problem is, apparently the ECU has faulted, the camshaft has gone, the engine sensor has gone and the engine harness has gone.
We keep being fobbed off by the dealers, with various storys like they cant get the parts, the ordering system is down etc etc. Basically we have had enough.
We have tried complaining to the garage, they are interested as we keep getting its not our fault , and we even tried customer services at Peuegot UK and got nowhere, we dont want this car anymore , what can we do.. we have a 3 year lease purchase on it . We pay £205 per month and put £2000 deposit on it with a final payment of £6800 if we decide to keep it.
How do we stand with saying we dont want it anymore, we dont know which way to turn.

First off it IS the garages problem to fix this so don't let them fob you off. Have they offered you a loan car in the mean time? If so then at least you can still get about .. if not demand one immediately.
I would personally write them a letter saying that you want the car fixed by such and such a date (give them 14 days), if they fail to do so then tell then take further advice (re: Sale of Goods, fit for purpose etc.) and insist on a replacement (I doubt that after a year they will offer a brand new replacement but may offer one of equal spec and mileage). I would also suggest that if they domanage to fix it then since they seem to be doing a signifiant amount of 'repairing' that you want the warranty extended for another year. Finally I would ask for them to refund the equivalent value of payments for the time the car has been off the road.
While it is the garages responsibility to sort this out I would also be inclined to send a letter to Peugeoit themselves who may be able to apply a bit of pressure.
IvanI don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0 -
Had a similar problem when I bought a 206 about 4 years ago. Got it second hand and made them throw in a platinum warranty with it for free. (definitely NOT worth paying for for what it covers) The ECU failed at 70mphon a dual carriageway - lost assisted steering brakes, power etc - not too happy!
Garage fixed it but warranty only covered another part they replaced - ECU wasn't covered. When I read up on it I discovered that watchdog had done an article on it some time back and an astonishing number of people had similar problems with the 206. But, because less than 1% of owners had reported the fault it wasn't deemed significant and Peugeot refuse to take responsibility and class it as a design fault. If it ever does reach statistical significance then maybe we can claim for it. Although I love my 206 and have had no issues for the last 2 years, I'd hesitate to buy another one just in case it had the same fault.0 -
Peugeot.
Say no more.
I had one some time back. Just like I had mumps.
Neither of which I will have again.
Think of it as a right of passage. Move on...0 -
I had a 206 when they first came out (about 6 years ago I think) which i brought new... it was a very good car when it worked, which was unfortuantely not very often! I ended up rejecting one under the sales of goods act and getting it replaced with another one... which I part ex'd for a Japanese car not long after... an expensive mistake to make buying a Peugeot!0

i have a 207 sports, its pap, its just a nothing car, totally average, the dealers think customers are stupid, and they kiss your !!!! before you buy it, then blank you if you see them again.
Steer (haha) clear of peugeots , buy a honda0 -
take it up with the garage especially as it is on a lease agreement - credit consumer agreement act which you have protection under.
i would get your deposit back and a pro rate refund of the payments that you have made
you obv wont get the full amount of the montly payments as you have had use of the car.
then as people have mentioned find a complety different car0
