Chipsaway?
Recently had our car keyed. There's a nice line from front panel, two doors and back panel. We've used T Cut, and you can still see lines. Feeling the line, its ridged slightly, so I'm guessing this his gone through the top varNish. It's very annoying!!! Anyway would this be a job chipsaway could fix? Are they expensive?

Depends. They are a franchise so your local guy maybe good and make a good repair or it maybe someone who takes 3x longer to do a mediocre job.
Are they expensive, depends on the job. But do get a quote from a proper paint shop.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
As above. Just because an outfit bears the Chipsaway name, doesn't necessarily give any indication as to the ability of the person doing the job.
But, to answer your question, yes this sounds like just the sort of thing they would deal with. However, I would recommend also looking for a good independant outfit - as always, the only way to go about it really is by personal recommendation.
Where abouts are you based ? My dad has used a local guy a couple of times, and has been really pleased with the results - if you're anywhere near the Devon area I can find out the chap's name for you. Also, any decent outfit will come and take a look, and tell you if it's not repairable by the "touch-up" method - in which case you'll need to get some quotes from body-shops, as mentioned by the previous poster.0 -
I had some bodywork done by Chipsaway last year - quite bad scrapes over rear wheel arch, plus some general wear and tear damage at the back. They did a great job and I didn't think they were expensive.0

I asked them to quote for repairing a couple of scratches three or four weeks ago. The chap I spoke to actually refused the job as he didn't think, in my particular case, that he would be able to get a satisfactory result working outside.
He recommended using a traditional paint shop.0 -

This says it all really, an outfit than be trusted in my option.0 -
Depends on how new/good the paintwork is on your car, I had a small pot of Java Black paint made up on eBay a few years ago for a Land Rover, touched it up myself and after a couple of polishes, you couldnt see it at all
Have used ChipsAway for our current Audi, and was very impressed (scuffs on bumpers), he mixed paint exactly, used heat lamps to dry the primer/paint/laquer and adjusted the lamp positions to dry it thoroughly, so my experience with ChipsAway is a good one. He was based in Hertfordshire.0 -
??????????
Not sure either.
He might mean that someone who recognises that he can't do a job properly, and says so, rather than bodging it to get your money is trustworthy.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
