Convert gpx file to a map so that I can print it

as above, does anyone know of a program that I can use to save my tracker watch gpx file as a map?

I have a Tomtom Runner watch and although a map is produced on the cloud using the file from the watch, it is not very detailed and it doesn't print out very well either.

Free program would be best (obviously) but I am willing to pay for a decent program.

You can import a gpx file into Google maps and browse the route using the usual Google tools.

If you want it on a proper map then you can get a subscription to OSMaps for £19.99 a year. That is online and allows you to print off on OSMaps. Allows you to map routes too.

Thanks, I tried that on a free trial but the gpx file that my watch produces has too much detail and is too big for them.

Try here

Go to the "Upload your GPS data files here:" section and browse to wherever you've saved your GPX track file, then just click on the "Draw the map" button. All other settings on the page can be left unchanged.
