Oh now tsk tsk GB. One was merely pointing out what might possibly happen.I'm about to drag myself to bed but i have my beady eye on you MIng. It would be such a pity if one of us dropped the priceless vase when following your demands to give it a polish.Night all.pollyx

Just to let you know that I still have my beady eye upon you. I'm relieved to find that you are all as batty as ever.
Sorry not to be here more often. Looking after my lovely 94 year old toyboy is time consuming and exhausting. Never mind. He is surviving and his flat is gradually filling up with bin bags destined for charities, recycling or landfill. Today I have a break and am off to do my stint at the mini-market. It's not my turn to cook today so I have a few minutes to catch up on forums.
Polly, I love your stories. It is so important to get our life histories down for our grandchildren and great-grandchildren. I keep meaning to do mine, but it is difficult to know how to tackle it, bearing in mind that both my children are adopted. They, and their children are entitled to know what lies behind their family life so I will do it. Sometime.
I'd better get myself off, but PLEASE keep the matches away from the flower container, or at least keep the insurance up to date.

Evening all
i am in plaster (have used the "i'm plastered" joke rather a lot)
Broke my wrist on Friday, tho initially thought it was a bad sprain. after eventually listening to advice, i went off to a and e yesterday and an xray confirmed.
this is going to be a trial - and it is all my own fault as i wasnt looking where i was going while wheeling a wheelbarrow and tripped over something.
I wanna be in the room where it happens8 -
VJsmum - oh - not good - is it your dominant arm?
Here we got up early and fitters arrived. They found a nest with two dead squirrels when removing the front fascia. When the traps only caught one squirrel - I was surprised as it sounded like a group up in the loft. Then when they removed the back fascia - found an empty squirrel nest and a wasp's nest.
We are now free of dead bodies and several thousand pound lighter.
I had to go for a nanna nap this afternoon.

Florence, glad that your uninvited guests have been removed. I reckon that you needed a nana nap to recover from the size of the bill.I believe that friends are quiet angels

No - pest control killed 1 squirrel - that was £180 - I had new fascias, soffits and guttering today which is what cost so much. There was a hole in the fascia - so the job needed to be done. The fascias were original from the 1970s. We hadn't spent anything major on the house for 8 years.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

We had a squirrel chew through or fascia. The only reason we knew they were up there was our loft insulation strewn over the garden. We've now repaired the fascia and it's got chicken mesh over the top. When DH went into the loft to make sure there were no babies in the next the squirrel was looking at him through the hole! They are very destructive TBH rats with good PR and pretty tails.
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle10
