Parking charge notice advice

Options
Hello,

A few months ago i received a parking charge notice from UK Car Parking management.
The car park where i was parked was in fact a free customer car park where i parked, left the premises to visit another shop before returning with the intention of visiting the shop that the car park belonged to. Long story short, i was running short for time so i decided against visiting the shop where i had parked as i thought it was no big deal.
I then received a Parking Charge Notice and did a little research, which resulted in the majority of people suggesting to just ignore this.

Around a month later i received a formal demand from the same company. I was a bit cautious so decided to look them up. They are not registered with the British parking association and there are an incredible number of posts in forums saying they are scammers and fakes. So, again, i ignored this.

Today, however, i received a letter from Debt Recovery Plus who are in fact registered with the BPA, asking for full payment within 14 days. It goes on to say failure to do so is an offence which could result in prosecution and a fine up to £1000.

I am in desperate need of some advice for peace of mind if this is just a bogus scam, or some genuine instructions on what to do now if this is actually the real deal. I am just an 18 year old with a lot of important things going on with regards to exams and uni etc so this is just added stress i don't need. If anyone would be able to help i would be incredibly grateful!!!

Thank you :)

They are IPC members. The NEWBIES thread explains there are two Trading Bodies.

You haven't got Uni at the moment, you have the entire Summer to research this scam and practise searching this forum.

Try putting 'UKCPM' into the search box, for starters. Read other threads and learn.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
