Painting tiles in bathroom/shower room?

I'm trying to improve my horrible little bathroom/shower room on a budget. The floor and wall tiles are mustard (vomit) colour and I was wondering whether to try a paint job on the wall tiles - ie white!
Has anyone ever painted tiles and did it look any good?

Yes, I painted wall tiles in downstairs toilet (or cloakroom for the pretentious!); you need a tile primer and then a tile paint. I only did the window ledge and a few behind the washbasin (splash back) but the results were good and has lasted over 10 years, tiles on splash back now replaced (recently redecorated and replaced toilet and washbasin) but I painted over the tiles on the window ledge again and it looks good once more.0
