Thank you Molerat for the link to the list of potential suppliers.
I will get working on that later

In the meantime I have to apply for a job this afternoon (not a joke) to help pay for the electricity :(

There are 7 / 8 of us in the house, children / partners and my pension will not cover the increased tariff

    Hello Footyguy

Yes, finding economy 7 tariffs is easy
My problem is they are very wrong / extremely expensive for our usage (which I cannot change), and I need to switch into a "normal" single rate tariff, but cannot as we are registered as economy 7.

Contact your supplier and request a change of meter

I'm not sure why you have such out of kilter consumption.
Remember, E7 offers 7 hours of chaep rate electricity every day
i.e. about 50%+ less than normal rate for almost 1/3rd of the day.

Single rate is usually a similar price to peak rate. sometimes it's even a bit more expensive  somethimes it may be about 10% less - it depends on region too

e.g. here are Iresa rates. See for yourself (prices exclude VAT)

(The low rate often isn't 50% of Iresa peak rate, perhaps because their peak rate is quite low - with other suppliers, you can often save up to 70%)

The daily standing charge is usually a little higher though, but not enough to worry too much about.

    Edit:
    Good luck!

    Thank you Footyguy

I am waiting for a call back from them and that may be the best option.

Timing is my issue now, as the current tariff expires in one month and I wouild like to be able to go to market (now) rather than have wait for a change of meter
