I have the 'normal' standard Freeview on my TV.
If I got a Humax box would I get anymore or any different Freeview channels ??
Thanks in advance................

No, but you'd be able to record them (that's the main purpose of a Humax box).0

OK thanks for that.
I can record them now through my DVD recorder.0 -
Except with a PVR you don't have to faff around with discs, you can record more and longer if you wish to as the space limitations of discs are removed. You can also record more than one programme at the same time.firefox1956 wrote: »OK thanks for that.

I wouldn't be without my freeview PVR. Recorded programs are .ts (mpeg transmission stream) files, whichis a perfectly well defined standard.0

Does your TV support Freeview HD, i.e. does it have an HD tuner? If not using a separate PVR was allow you to view/record the HD channels.0

That's not what everyone uses it for. Personally I don't watch that much TV, so, I record what I like and watch when I want. A bit like having my own channel and it's quicker than messing about with the catch up apps.To be honest I think it is madness to record TV you never have enough time to watch,
Got all that as well, all viewed through the same box.Consider a world where you can just be in the mood for a good gangster movie and it is there ready and waiting. Want a Rom Com or to start over with Game of Thrones, just do it.
The point of the box is to give me more choice of how and when I view content. It does take a mindshift, TV becomes more like going to the cinema but on demand, you also become much more choosy about what you waste your life watching.
The vast majority of TV viewers just want a simple one box answer. I know you'll find that difficult to get over, but hey, it's a nice diverse world out there.:)
Is there any need to post huge adverts for your pet projects....??Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

I guess you are talking about yourself there......For anything missed or couldn't be bothered there is catch up and on demand, as well as streaming from your own collection.....All in the same box. So I'm not really sure what your point is.Each to their own but you do not "get all that", you have to record that damn thing first, have the forethought to do it days before you feel in the mood and by the time you get it you may be in the mood for something else.Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

I disagree that it's far easier and have never suffered any of your worries.I was comparing say recording a movie because you happen across it within the dreaded "schedule" of the TV company rather than just being in the mood for a medical or legal drama and watching one you have never seen.
The schedule can't meet the needs of such a wide variety of people so it is bound to disappoint, but if each of those people can just watch whatever they want, on demand, without having to record it, then it is far easier than recording it, doing a series link, having to worry if there is enough space on PVR and so on.
No wonder you don't do use a PVR, you seem to have got into all sorts of bother with one.
Using your beloved Plex is no different. It's just a PVR in a different guise. If you just use it for catchup/On demand then it works the same as the one box PVR's If you want to record something with it, you still have to search for it etc etc.
Still not seeing your point.Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

I can't explain it any clearer than I have, no need to record anything, it is already there.
Let's just agree to disagree, different strokes for different folks.
Already where?
Surely Plex is just a media server? You must have got the media from somewhere in order for Plex to stream it.
Either you're finding free stuff on the web, or you have to pay for it.
Or has Plex started up a subscription service now, like Netflix Amazon Prime etc?0
