I would say not, technically, you didn't take out the policy, your dad did.

BTW, don't worry about switching registered keeper again, owner and registered keeper are two different things, insurance companies are used to cars being in parents names, it made no odds in the intermediary where I worked.

He refers to the policy he was trying to take out - where does it say he actually proceeded to do so?
