I haven't, but they're Whole of Market, which is a good thing.

What is best way of checking to make sure they are reputable? Are L&C whole of the market?

  • I am dealing with them now, they seem good but it is still early days for me. They answer all my emails quickly and got me a DIP straight away. I am waiting on a decision for my full application now

All brokers should be registered with the FCA.
You can check here - https://register.fca.org.uk/

Thats not a guide for how good they are, you can only get an idea for that from their previous customers - reviews online etc.

  • A number of friends used them for their first help to buy mortgages and haven't said anything negative.

I wasn't a fan of Persimmon giving them my details so didn't look so favourably on them but I guess that isn't their fault.

    Hi I used Mortgages First.

    Well, still using I suppose.

Good experience here. Friendly, helpful bunch. Good with communications and the mortgage advisor (who came to our house) was really friendly and helpful.

We had one factor about our application that makes it a little bit unusual (one applicant, non-EEA national, without Indefinite Leave to Remain) and they placed our application with a suitable lender based on the fact we got an offer without a problem.

We are buying a new home using the Help to Buy scheme.

Mortgages First and Mortgage 1st appear to be 2 different companies. One is in Colchester and the other in Chesterfield.

I have never used either (for obvious reasons), so I can not comment on them. But it is important you are getting reviews ont he right one as one has 5 stars on google from 4 people (Chesterfield) the other has 12 stars from 12 people.

Ack sorry, I was talking about the Colchester company!

My experience doesn't Echo some of the negative google reviews - lots of people complaining they were rude and never called back. They have been anything but with us so far and extremely prompt with their calls. But, it seems this is perhaps not the right company. Doh!

Thanks for all the answers. I have decided to go with Mortgage 1st and will post again once the process is complete. So far they appear to be very good.
