Been out shopping, all healthy stuff ...as usual.

They had some of the big bread rolls I like for my burgers with a 30% off sticker, so I got two packs of those. Pack of 4 Jalapeno burgers. Box of choc ices. Pack of 6 sausage rolls, pack of eggs .... then into £land for a bag of my favourite choccies :)

While two of the sausage rolls were being reheated, I sliced the bread rolls in half and lobbed those into the freezer, so that's a job done.

I was in a "get in, grab something, get out" mood in the shop, so no time to faff around seeing what they've got .... I just grabbed what I went in for. I did spend 30 seconds pondering a big cheesecake, but walked away from that.

    Good evening everyone,

I've been tearing my hair out this afternoon trying to make sense of someone else's idea of record keeping, I'm sure it makes sense to them but unfortunately they are on holiday so it's taken me ages to unfankle it:(. I'll go back to it over the next couple of days ......

Lunch was the planned sarnie after which I still felt hungry so a cupasoup, some tomatoes, a nectarine and a packet of crisps followed. I'd like to say I was so stuffed that dinner will just be a piece of toast but no I'm hungry again. Seem to be having a "bottomless pit" day :o
Dinner is going to be use up of various veg, the remaining garlic cream cheese from making the turkey "kievs" and pasta of some description so hopefully that will satisfy the munchies:)

Years ago I actually got a qualification in Office Practice, then did the whole PA/office/management thing....

With about 24 years' experience behind me I was asked to "give another part of the business a hand" one day when they had people off.... not a problem!

Customer comes in, they want a job doing.
Go to the filing cabinet to get out their folder with their past jobs in it so this new one can be added to that - it was printing work, so most jobs to be done were re-runs of leaflets, vouchers and adverts. Their file had their previous artwork etc in.

OK... this is an easy one then. I know their business name.
    It's: Town Zoo.

    T: Not there.
    Z: Not there.

    Checked again. Nope.

    So where was it?

    A: For Animals :)
  • Perhaps frustration with the poor record-keeper is the cause of "bottomless stomach syndrome" today Caron? Hopefully...it will all have come clearer by tomorrow and your stomach won't be demanding extra rations.

Dinner tonight was your boiled (aka steamed) then baked new potatoes again. Plus baked onion/pepper/cauliflower - with just a spray of oil and bit of soya sauce. Eaten with tahini sauce drizzled over the top and some tomatoes and olives. I think I'm figuring out this way of eating gradually - key thing seems to be "Add a bit of flavour and then add a bit more" and it does make quite a difference.

yes farway, almost twice the price of my panasonic but I have been very disappointed with the panny bakes lately. They are too dense and damp and I am not enjoying the bread it makes. I didn`t have a holiday and save a fortune on the allotment produce, so what the heck. I don`t spend much apart from council tax and the like so I might as well buy what I want :)

Nice lunch but later was a bit bitty, stewed apple, nuts, currants yoghurt and more than one slice of cake :o

I found a new way of making porridge and tried it this morning, was very nice. 60g of jumbo (or any) oats, soaked in the morning about 10 minutes in boiling water. Add any milk, I used hemp milk and added chopped apricots and cinnamon before soaking, could add anything. Cooked a few minutes and served with a dash of agave. A big bowlful for a change and it kept me full until lunchtime but more to the point, I enjoyed it.

Just the thought of eating sloppy oats, by any name, grosses me out.

I can manage flapjack and biscuits/cookies.... but the very thought of "porridge" in all its guises makes me heave.

It might be lovely, never tried it .... but the very thought of it makes me want to run far and fast.

I'd had a look the other day and thought :mad::mad: then as well.
New spuds boiled or steamed then roasted are so lush.:) Completely agree re adding layers of flavour it's so easy to go overboard, I want to taste the original ingredient....

I like porridge but only once in a while, it's great at keeping that "full" feeling - for me you can't beat traditional Scot's porridge made with a pinch of salt, much as like muesli & crumble made with oats I don't enjoy sweet cooked porridge, though I'll not say no to a splash of cream on the top :D
  • Just spotted PN's comment too re a predecessor's "filing system:cool:".

I was a personal Secretary for long enough during my worklife (complete with the proper training to be so) that it did "drive me nuts" sometimes to see just how undervalued (ie underpaid) Secretaries were - considering how the "world and their spouse" seemed to think they could do our job and would try and that would be followed pretty often by them making a right hash of it.

....and don't get me started on spelling mistakes so many other people make.....

yes PN, sloppy slimey porridge is vile. I bought some cheap own brand rolled oats once and it made the stickiest gloop ever, I hated it. Good quality jumbo oats are very different, there is texture in the porridge

Just soaked muesli so far, made from various flakes fruit and chopped cashews. I make the muesli myself, rye flakes etc, plus one apricot

I needed dried milk for my new bread, nearest small shop is over 2 miles away and I doubt they would have dried milk. Anyway am carless for 2 weeks and it is up and down a massively steep hill and across a manic very busy narrow road just next to a bad bend, lots of holiday traffic. So am staying put and made an order with

I`ve used these for very many years, top notch. I did buy a few extra things to get the free PnP, like GnB 85% chocolate and a few roasted salted peanuts for my treat. All my reliable stuff comes from them and if anyone wants dried veg or soups for winter stores, then they have them. Ok I`ll have to wait a few days but better than risking crossing that road, by that blind bend

Today and food, no idea, I need to slow down a day or two, just allotment pottering to get out in the fresh air. Probably rice, fish and veg as cba mood. Anyway nice weather today so I should get out
