I am glad you asked about the bread maker as I wondered the same thing.
After putting up with the white rings on my dining room table and coffee table for months I finally ordered a special ring remover online. Fingers crossed the product works."This site is addictive!"

Kittie - thanks for the info re the mutton, I don't want to buy halal either. I'll just need to keep an eye out for any coming up locally.
Good afternoon everyone,
I finally got the decision on my Ill Health Retirement application and it's been approvedwhich is such a relief
though it will be probably a few months before it all kicks in.
I used to be pretty decent at DIY but it's the bending/standing that gets me now.
Breakfast was the usual toast and lunch will be a salad sandwich. Pasta with various veg tonight I think as I need to get stuck in to some admin for a voluntary group I support so don't want to have to prep much.0 -

as I know just how difficult it is these days to get Ill Health Retirement. Having been a civil servant - I know that these days they are trying their darndest not to even give that to someone literally dying of cancer:mad::eek:. I saw some very sad cases of people refused it.
So - congratulations you've been able to manage to get that.
I hope things work out well for you now - and that the finances are going to be okay for you.0 -

The breadmaker is a zojirushi mini and the only place in the uk to get one is yumasia. It is expensive but I used to have a zojirushi when breadmakers first came out a very long time ago, it was a proper workhorse and I know the quality. I have made a cake and found zillions of bread and cake recipes to use, all to make a 1 lb loaf or small cake or various doughs. Amazon.com has a tonne of reviews. Re the expense, yes, hence me working out that it would pay for itself in 99 more loaves or cakes. I am handling this one very carefully ie washing out only with a soft cloth. It should last me very many years
I couldn`t find the mutton so I used turkey breast and smoked lardons and managed to use some frozen roasted carrots. Had some with rice for lunch, re the rice, I use a fab rice cooker with a timer. When hubbie died, this rice cooker kept me fed because I quickly layered eg rice, frozen fish and frozen veg into it, then I had a full and decent meal each day. Before he died, I had a bigger zojirushi rice cooker, which I gave to a dd within a few days and ordered a mini one, again a zojirushi from yumasia. It makes lovely porridge and lovely meals as well as perfect rice. Poached dried fruit as well.
Caronc, thank goodness, peace of mind at last. Congratulations
Got to go, need these quickly assembled meals, more work to do, never mind cooking0 -

I had to search for this one, gulp, it is expensive isn't it? But nice for you and sounds like it will serve you well over time, and a nice way of working out how it will save in the long run
Meanwhile my mobile saga seems to have finally been resolved, went into the mobile shop, young lad phoned the hot staff helpline while I waited. Somewhat ironically he was put on hold listening to muzak, then when they answered the phone went dead. Ha, we have all had that happen, glad I went in and did not try it from home
Lunch was half the pork pie, with salady bits blobbed with salad cream. The pie was very tasty and is now on my buy it list if spotted YS again
Dinner is edging toward the LO corned beef, grilled, on toast, with beans & perhaps fried eggs and maybe fresh toms, with the last of the stewed apples & yoghurt.
Time permitting I may pop out & pick the raspberries / blackberries just in case I fancy more porridge. It was too dark to pick them when I had this morning's porridge. Afternoon all,
I decided that I would have a change for breakfast this morning and had toast with marmalade. I had some bread that had been out for a couple of days and I toyed with the idea of freezing it for breadcrumbs or having toast, and decided the toast option prevented something else ending up in the freezer
Usual for lunch of tuna may sandwich. Slowly working my way through the tuna now.
Dinner will be a lamb rump steak with some sad looking mushrooms and tomatoes with a bit of steamed veg and new potatoes. I can't seem to organise myself at the moment. I really need to do a shopping list of fresh fruit/veg for the weekend as it's a bank holiday and the supermarkets will be extra busy tomorrow and Friday, so I like to go in there knowing what I need.

Fish fingers and chips for lunch today. It was either that or cheesy mash and open another tin of beans.
I should think about food shopping. I've been out of eggs for well over a week and I've no bread... and no burgers ....
I fancy some sweeties ....0 -

Whenever you say sweeties, I always imagine you being 3 years old :rotfl:"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"
