Nah - it's got to be a slice of fresh sourdough or similar bread. Then it doesnt even require to be toasted.
The problem to that being I've got several sources of supply of decent bread round here - but the most obvious one is extremely unreliable and the others never seem to order enough in and you have to rely on luck to get there in time to buy it before it runs out.
You guessed it - the (almost) reliable source of supply is the dearest by a country mile:cool:
Defo got experimenting more with making own bread down as next project - after I've finished the "Get Figure Back" one. I've got all the gear - the cookbooks, the banetton baskets....0 -
Good morning.
It's my son's 19th birthday today and it feels very strange as he's not in the country let alone near enough to see him. He called me at 5am our time so I got to wish him happy birthday. He's been taken to see a baseball game in Pittsburgh later today which he's looking forward to and I suspect there was some sort of party going on at the counsellor's house where he is staying for weekend
I am at work so lunch is a chicken and stuffing sandwich (cooked in the oven as I like a crispy top), a yoghurt, a banana and a choccie biccie. Tea tonight is one of the portions of spag bol that I made yesterday I just have to cook the spaghetti bit when I get home.0 -

Going back to the naming of meals
When I first came to NI I was talking to a lady who later became a friend, and she was saying how her son was in England and how weird his future in laws were. Apparently they had invited her over for tea. And tea is what she got. A cup of tea and a biscuit
Here tea is a meal. She was mortified as she had only a small sandwich at lunchtime thinking she was going to get fed, and she had to sit there for two hours making small talk and her belly rumbling lol0 -
I popped out this morning for some crumpets. I didn't need anything else but now have this fear of running out of them
.
I'm going to make my chicken and stuffing sandwich in a minute. I'm really looking forward to it.
For dinner I have got a lamb casserole out of the freezer and I will have that with some new potatoes and veg. I am going to make some scones or muffins this afternoon so one or possibly two of those will be pudding.0 -

Good afternoon,
I'm just enjoying a ham & lettuce sandwich and some cherries for lunch after what (for me) has been a productive morning:), I cut back a rampaging buddleia and also visited the library. Breakfast was the last of the smoked mackerel pate on toast. No idea about tonight but it really should involve courgettes and runner beans;)0 -
