Do you mind if I join you all. I am married with two children but I am currently following autoimmunity paleo diet so effectively I am cooking for one until I can find out how to roll it out to the family without moans and groans.

I'm stuck with canned coconut milk. Does anyone know if I incorporate the thicker top of the can to the liquid or just remove and use the liquid part?

fuddle, money is coconut milk expert. I don`t use coconut. I think she would say to whizz it all together

Plumber has been and I am so impressed. He quietly traced wiring back from the motorised valve and I have a faulty thermostat, which he will replce. In the meantime, it is just on timer, which is fine. I made a point of keeping mouth zipped, rather than witter but we still had a good conversation

Thinking ahead, I had better have fish tomorrow and do a turkey casserole on sunday. I have a pack of smoked lardons to use up so will add them. I very rarely get smoked anything as bad for dna repair. Miserable old day today, damp grey and cold, I need to get some ready meals made for cba days

Baked sweet potato was bright orange goodness but I find them rather too sweet and a whole one was too much

There's brands and brands of it - some better than others. The cheapest place I've seen it is Aldi. Then there's yer Tesco and the like. Personally I get mine from the health food store - errrm...which does mean its dearer - but I avoid the additives in it some of the cheaper brands have.

I think the basic idea is to mix both parts together. It maybe depends on the brand as to just how thick the "topping" is. The one I buy - yep...it's pretty thick and I've learnt the best idea to mix it all up is to blitz it one in a blender to distribute it all evenly.

On the other hand - one can just use the liquid part for whatever is required (eg maybe as a more milk substitute) and I gather some whip up the "topping" bit and use as "cream". I'm planning on some experimenting at some point in that direction myself.

I decided on something different tonight to a curry in the event and therefore didnt use that coconut milk I've got sitting in the fridge after all. I think I shall probably use it tomorrow as the milk part of some porridge - having seen that done on YouTube. Planning on reserving a little bit of the coconut milk to use as milk in my coffee - as part of my experimenting to see what alternative milks I could use instead of dairy milk in my coffee.

I've got a list of experiments to do as long as my arm at the moment and working my way through and telling myself I'd better experiment at the simpler end of the spectrum to start with - before I start going off into trying more "fancy" stuff.

plumber is on his way :j
what was wrong with your ch, farway?

It was a combination of events, the pressure chamber thingy lost pressure on one side of diaphragm, which caused the water to over pressurise, which opened the pressure relief valve [it did it's job], once opened they never really seal properly again and need replacing.
Like your plumber, he knew exactly what was required and just fixed it. I know some complain at labour costs, but forget how many years of training and experience is included in that. Glad your's turned out OK

Dinner was the mince, I found some frozen Aunt Bessie mini yorkies, so had 3 of them with it. I'll be glad once I've cleared the AB yorkies out, vile things, only bought them last year thinking they would be a tasty easy option - Wrong

God job I never bought any stollen today, or I would be hacking at it right now

The plumber hasn`t billed me yet for the last work, about 1k I think. He lost his wife 5 months ago and is being mad busy because everyone wants him, he is working until 10 at night. The upside is that he will get through it better, by being busy

re the stollen! I have stupidly eaten two butter ginger biscuits. I am out of routine, got to be careful

It was the AB ones I [STRIKE]ditched[/STRIKE] fed to the birds this week. Not the best are they :(, the birds left most of them........

Welcome fuddle:), re coconut milk I tend to give it a really cook shake before using and that seems to work ok. I do sometimes drain off the thin stuff and freeze the cream or vice versa depending on what I'm making.
I'm glad everyone with "technical" issues seem to be sorted:D

PN- just as well your friend's rescheduled, sounds as though you wouldn't have done the meal justice. So at least you've a "rain cheque" for another time.:)

It's turned really cold here and I ended up having to put the heating on just after 4pm as I had got to the point that if I put anymore clothes on I'd of been unable to move freely:eek:. The house had got really chilled with the painter toing and froing. The front paintwork is looking fab- he's done a great job. Just a quick final coat over the weekend. Hopefully tomorrow but it might get rained off. It's made such a difference so worth everyone penny. I don't mind paying for labour costs if you get a decent job done, I'll definitely use this guy again. In true "Scotland's a village" mode turns out we grew up in the same town a couple of streets away from each other and he was in my sister's class throughout primary school:cool:.

Two (very) small LO chicken curry portions are defrosted. They are different types but I'll just be mixing them together as CBA heating them separately. I'll toast some pitta and add some spinach to make the meal up but suspect they might need something else. I CBA cooking rice and have none frozen but may have a "ping" packet of pilau in the cupboard that I can use some of and freeze or use up the rest.

Sounds pretty expert to me :) thank you, I really appreciate that. I can have a cup of tea in the morning now. I'll be watching out for your experiments. :D

Thank you for the welcome caronc

Tea for me was way too many choccies. I over-bought, in error... dipped in and kept going. Bought 500grams in total (2x250g) ... on the second bag. One bag's about 1100 calories.

This last week I've had a pack of six sausage rolls ... half a family sized pie ... 3-4 giant Yorkshires .... all those sweeties.... 3 mini cheesecakes .... chips and more chips .... and probably a load more stuff I can't recall just yet!

I need to go back to just toast and crumpets for awhile I think, else I'll be the size of a small planet. I bet I'm heading towards 9 stone by now. Probably 8 stone 10 and I prefer to peak at 8 stone 7 before cutting back a bit again.

    Will he?
No offence meant, but how do you know?
(Everyone is different, so it is not comparable with anyone else's experience)

Distraction is all well and good but in a moment of quiet it could hit him like a tonne of bricks and only then will he really start the grieving process.

Just because he is keeping busy doesn't mean he's ok.....!

It's ok, I've had a box of stollen slices this evening, so I've had your share:).

Other than that, for a number of reasons (mainly anxiety and stress over a meeting) I've just eaten toast and muffins all day, withsome chocolate biscuits thrown in for good measure.

I've promised myself that I will dig something healthy out of the freezer for tomorrow.
