No gas bills

Not actually my problem, but my daughter is not getting any gas bills! When they bought the house, they contacted the supplier named on the paperwork by the vendor, but the company denied having an account at that address.
Other than contacting every supplier in the land to see if they supply them, she can't think what to do, but she knows that one day there will be a massive bill. Any ideas?

Keep track of the usage, and the typical rate ; so she can work out how massive the bill will be. Either put that money aside ; or grow a good credit rating, so if necessary, she could borrow it.Other than contacting every supplier in the land0

Google is your friend - "who supplies my gas"Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0

Is the house a 'new build'? i.e. Daughter is first occupant?0

Your daughter should have contacted her solicitor when she discovered the seller was less than honest in their disclosures.
If the seller was not truthful about this simple matter, it makes you wonder what other things the seller may have misled your daughter over :eek:0 -
Contact National Grid, stating the MPRN number as the idenitier, if available.0

I do hope your daughter took readings when she moved in otherwise I can see some arguements as to who should pay what.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0

Thanks for helpful replies.
No, Cardew, it is not a new build, it is a very old house.
Yes, Robin9, she took readings.
She has money set aside, but I believe there is a limit beyond which they cannot bill you.
Thanks for the tips on some ways forward. I will pass them on.0 -
Afaik, your daughter will still need to show she made a "reasonable effort" to register for her gas supply, otherwise the incumbent (or incompetent) supplier can bill for the relevant period of time. Speak to MPAS (Telephone: 0870 608 1524) who will be able to advise and provide the correct Meter Point Reference Number and relevant supplier.0

You presumably are referring to the 12 month back-billing rule which is a code(not regulation).
As said above, unless your daughter takes steps to find out who is supplying her gas that rule will not apply. She should have some documentary proof of those steps.0
