Using rent to increase credit score

I have been looking at ways to get my credit score as high as I can... One of the things I have read about is using rent payments.
I haven't heard of it before, so am after some opinions! The way I have read it is that you sign up and let them know what you pay (landlord doesn't need to know) and as long as you pay your rent in full and on time, it will help boost your rating.
Is this true? Has anyone used this? What are your thoughts?

I'm after some thoughts from people on here who have tried it - I've already read about it, as I said0 -
Your Landlord does need to know. Their terms are you need the Landlord or lettings agent have given consent.
What if the payment system fails and your rent is late? Who is liable?
Sub prime credit card would make more sense to me. Get a card ans use it wisely always paying it off in full.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
