Central heating control broken - replace with Nest?
Comments
-
Nest stat is powered via a standard micro USB port - much like most Android phones. I put a spur underneath the floorboards and chased ducting into the wall - we were decorating anyway so was just a little plastering job to hide the cable. Otherwise you'll need it near a socket, or the heat link, for power.
I like mine, but it was 'free' with npower when we changed supplier, and our last stat had died so it made sense. Not sure I'd lay out for a new one, but maybe an older model on ebay would be a good deal? They auto update their software so the experience would be the same.0 -
I opted for Tado over nest, mainly over two things.
Nest requires to be powered over USB/Plug and it doesn't (maybe didn't now) do geo-location, you can enable it by IFTTT. Like yourself I was replacing a wireless battery powered thermostat.
So far Tado has paid for itself since August!:exclamatiTo the internet.. I need to complain about something!0 -
For anyone still looking for a smart thermostat I found Tado which is amazing.
- It's easy to instal
- cheap (rent or buy)
- can save you money
- can control heating and water (with the extra extension kit)
My friend gave me A link that gave me £10 cashback, if you would like it feel free to PM me as I can't post it. Hope this helps0
