I live in hope that one day you'll actually post something based on FACT not nonsense based on some conspiracy theory of yours or just things you simply make up. There is plenty of reported evidence of these "hoverboards", usually Chinese knock offs, going up in smoke right here in the UK.Strider590 wrote: »In truth only a handful out of millions produced ever caught fire and NONE of them were in the UK. There are more cars on sale in the UK which catch fire than there are "hoverboards".0 -
Another bunch of nonsense, keep it up.Strider590 wrote: »How can I take that seriously when they clearly don't know what the **** they're talking about?
There is no "cut off switch", there's a charge controller circuit, just like that in a phone, tablet, laptop, vape or anything else that uses lithium batteries and just like anything else that uses lithium batteries, the manufacturer may tell you not to leave the device on charge for extended periods.
What probably happened was some sort of impact damage to the battery pack causing a short circuit or overheating due to where it was being charged. Basically human stupidity.
And what do I think of those stories? Details are fuzzy, to be honest it looks like propaganda.
They mention un-fused plugs, well that applies to a lot of devices we own and yet if it doesn't provide untaxable transport they don't give a damn.
I used to work for company that was contacted by a major name retailer regarding making their huge stock of these "safe", but it didn't happen and the retailer got a slap on the wrist for even contemplating it.0 -
I'd rather go for a nice used 125cc scooter, plenty of power for city roads and still cheap enough to run. Also go for a known make not one of those cheap unknown Chinese makes.0

hello, im considering getting an electric moped to buzz around on. Has anyone else got one or seen one? They're classed as a bike but look like a moped (so not going to saw your butt up! :rotfl: ) you dont need a licence or anything to have one.
This is one,, https://eriderbikes.com/e-rider-new-model-15/
I’m looking for a good reliable place in London for electric moped repairs, service and modificationsNothing has been fixed since 2008, it was just pushed into the future0 -
Get a second hand road bike (non battery). If you are even half fit you could do 15mph.0

You just have to override the limter
You just don't want to get caught doing more than 15mph and then you suddenly have to start paying road tax and insuranceNothing has been fixed since 2008, it was just pushed into the future0 -
Can anybody recommend a good ebike company who can override the limiter?
I'm looking for an ebike that looks like a relatively normal ebike, that won't attract too much attention
I'm after something for commuting 30 miles there and 30 back again through busy traffic, so I want something that will be faster than a car which I average less than 30mph because it takes me about an hour and half everytime.
While I'm in slow moving traffic I often see bicycles going straight to the front of the traffic jam, and I never seem to catch up with them.
-
So can anybody suggest a good ebike that will have at least 30 miles range,
I know it has to be limited to 15 mph, but I want to de-limit it to about 20-25mph and just be very careful not to draw much attention to myselfNothing has been fixed since 2008, it was just pushed into the future0 -

I think you'll struggle to find any e-bike with a 30 mile range, especially if you're going to tamper with the speed limiter and make it go faster; it will use up the battery very quickly at 25 mph. You could always carry a spare charged battery, but it would be much better to buy a petrol moped or scooter.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0
