Day Trip Suggestions from Manchester

I'm looking for some suggestions for a day trip on Sunday (16/08) by train not anywhere to far probably 2 hour max journey.
Im an ex employee RBS Group
However Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own

    Chester, Stratford Upon Avon. You could even get to London for a few hours, good fast train service into Euston. Harrogate is a favourite of mine.

    I was actually thinking of Chester looks a nice place.

    I'll be in London in a few weeks so thought I'd wait until then.

    York. I'd also recommend some of the villages in the Calder Valley like Hebden Bridge

    Buxton - one hour from Picadilly -

    wonder round the town / meal / last train back...
  • depends what you want to do.
    If you want to go shopping, then go to Chester or Cheshire oaks.
    If you have kids then you could potentially give the Forbidden corner a go.
