Improving credit card

Hi my partner has a poor credit rating which I'm trying to help him improve. He doesn't want a credit card or loan. One of the suggestions is to put some of the household bills in his name but the utility companies aren't allowing me to put the account in his name - water company said I can add him along with me but will that help? Will that adversely affect my credit? Sky said they won't change name on account at all but are quite happy for him to pay the bills - I'm guessing that's not much help? Any advice please? Thank you!

Don't financially associate with him if he has a poor track record.

Tell him to try for a sub prime card. It's the easiest and cheapest way - ie free.
