Follow the below link for a free version of Network Magic, it will set up your network for you, adjust the settings, ask for passwords, set protection.
It is one of the few pieces of software I have which I have gone on to purchase the full version. All its features are free for a week, decide if you need them all after that and pay, if not keep the free version.

Are you entering exactly the same WPA-PSK encryption key into both your router and your laptop. Get yourself a long random key from here and save it to a notepad file, so that you can copy and paste it in when required. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

Have you solved your problem now?
I am thinking of getting a new laptop with vista and also use AOL with a netgear router but need to know I will be able to connect to the internet.
I do not need to use the AOL software on the laptop but do need to connect wirelessly through the router to the AOL BB.Regards

erb,
vista works with netgear routers, or any router. It just has to be configured correctly.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
I have been waiting for laurad85 to post if she has solved her problem.
albertross says "vista works with netgear routers, or any router. It just has to be configured correctly."
I have set up a Windows XP laptop wireless conection to my Netgear router with no problem. Just had to enter the network name (SIDD) and the WPA key and in the router settings allow the laptop to access by entering the MAC code for the laptop.
Is it the same process to set up when using Vista Home Premium?Regards

It's not quite the same process, but the gist is the same.. to connect to any encrypted network, you have to find or tell it the ssid, then tell it the encryption type and pwd, the screens to do this are slightly different in vista.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0
