Thanks PP, I hope you've had a fab Christmas too, going to try and do some catching up on diaries after this post. I spent some time during the ridiculously long journey we had yesterday fleshing out more of my 2018 goals, I'll post nearer to the new year.

As I've got the iPad back, I've been able to Tilly tidy the ynab pots which has had a very positive effect on my targets. There is no way I'm going to achieve all 5mop pot targets unless some unexpected funds appear (I can't do it even if I spend nothing between now and 1st Jan and I have to go food shopping but, yesterday was a nsd. Woop woop Woop
However (I'm regards to mop pot targets) back in September my aim was to reach £35k on the mortgage by the end of the year, so I've smashed that.

    MSE December Goals

    1) Reduce Mortgage capital by £600
    Target 1: interest added £70.77/£70.66✅
Target 2: next brick on the house £2.11/£2.11✅
    Target 3: £400 capital reduction £4.09/£100

    2) Emergency fund back up to £700

Quite a quiet day really. I did a big food shop, stocking up on some basics and, with having to feed hubby from now until he returns to work, quite a bit more costly than I've been used to. Overall the December food budget is looking ok. And I've been able to make some Tilly Tidies.
Hoping tomorrow will be a nsd, but you never know.

    Update below.

Just popped in to say nsd. Woop woop. Over half this month I've not spent any money. Not sure how I can beat it in January, but hey, that's the aim of a challenge.

Hey Wish! Your diary's ballooned since I last logged on. And I don't think you were working. Are you glad to be back in the fold?

So, as I'm not planning on moving too far for the rest of the day and as I get a little bit too excited about this. Here are December's final updates.

    MSE December Goals

    1) Reduce Mortgage capital by £600
    Target 1: interest added £70.66/£70.66✅
Target 2: next brick on the house £2.11/£2.11✅
    Target 3: £400 capital reduction £44.90/£100
    Target 4: £500 capital reduction £0/£100
    Target 5: £600 capital reduction £0/£100
quite a lot short of where I wanted to be, but it has been Christmas, which we all know is never a cheap time of the year however carefully you budget and I've built up by EF a bit more rather than take from it. I am going to take 5.10 from next month's food budget to make this up to a nice round, £50 mop pot top up.

    2) Emergency fund back up to £700
    £92.74/£92.74✅:j :j :j :j

    3) Surveys, cashback, sales etc. £13.18/£50
    £7.18 - Shopmium
£3.00 - boot sale app sale
    £3.00 -fb sale
need to get back into the surveys in the new year. I don't think I've done any this month. I was getting a bit bored of them, but now I've had a break I might feel a bit better. I've finally broken the 1500 points barrier on receipt oink so could cash out a tiny bit, but am definitely going to keep that one going until the £50 payout.

    4) 15 NSDs
17/15 ✅today has been/is going to be a nsd too. I'm very impressed with this. But the family time over Christmas really helped, so I'm going to keep my target at 15 for January and see how I do in a 'real' month

    5) Expenses Slush fund £100
£60/£100this was a late addition to the targets for December. I will continue this in January. I actually think a £200 buffer may be needed all told, but after I get to £100 I'll grow it gradually.

Here's how I did on my budget

Groceries £164.06/£250 - this is brilliant. Very impressed
Household goods: £93.20/£100. - spot on
Spending money: £102.95/£100 not too bad
Restaurants: £112.95/£100 (well, it is Drcember)
    Other, random stuff: £86.19/£9
Fuel: £50.01/£70. Pretty good and, apart from 1 work trip in January there should be enough fuel to last the month.

    Mini Savings Goals
    Emergency Fund £700/£1k
    Annual Clean fund £70/£150
    Wool/craft fund £19
    Sling fund: £40/£110
Gift Money (Christmas) £50 (plus £30 cheque to pay in)

Generally not too bad at all. I love these end of the month round ups. (And I love reading everyone else's too)

Back again to do my goals for 2018. Some are amounts to grow, some to maintain, some to reduce.
I've also spent some time planning out my year's tasks in my bullet journal, but I'll only bore you with that if I run out of other things to say, which is hardly likely to happen.

    So here goes

    Wish's 2018 Goals

    1) Mfw challenge member number 162
I've joined the challenge with a target of £2,500. This is £210 a month and I'll continue to break it down in my diary in the way I have been (overpay interest, bricks on my countdown house & £100 increments there after, monthly I'll report on the progress towards my annual target.

    2) Emergency Fund up to (and maintained at) £2,000.
Currently this requires a £150 a month target, but I'm going to add any surpluses from the annual bills to this, car insurance is due in February, for example. If I hit £2k (and don't spend any) I'll divert additional money to the Mop Pot.

    3) Save the £2 coins.
I can't imagine this will bring in much as I rarely use cash, but you never know. I don't know what I'm going to do with this money, but it doesn't matter.

    4) Keep up with the no spend days. I'll review the targets each month. I think my 'go to' target will be 15 and will adjust depending on the commitments I have each month. Going for 15 in January as a start.

    5) get back in my size 14 jeans- about 1.5 dress sizes to drop.

I'll have a number of shorter term targets as we go along too, but I think that that's enough for now.

I can't break down my January targets until the mortgage interest has been added for the month, which isn't likely to happen until Tuesday now.

Not too much that I can report today as the mortgage interest hasn't yet appeared on the online banking, so not sure what my first mini mop pot target is. But, as today has been a nsd, I don't actually have anything to update really.
Tomorrow won't be as I need to do a food shop. Hoping to get enough things for just over a week. Hubby has been around the whole time since the last food shop and is around until next Monday meaning we cook 'fresh' every evening. When he's away it's the freezer meals. He heads away next Monday, back Thursday so, if I can shop tomorrow for Wednesday until a week Thursday I'll be really pleased.

    So, here's my updates.

    MSE January Goals
    1) £210 Mop pot

    2) EF to £2000
    0/£150 for January.

    3) £2 coin challenge - will report at the end of the year.

    4) NSD challenge
    1/15

    5) jean challenge, will document monthly not daily.
