CCJ from CEL

Hi,
I'm sorry in advance if I am repeating what others he asked in other posts :-( I have been going through other posts for a few days now and can't work out what is right for me.
Basically, a couple of years ago I had a parking ticket, unbeknown to myself until last year. I moved house and never received any letters from them.. it wasn't until I checked my credit score that it flagged up. I have always had brilliant credit so this was a massive kick in the teeth!!
At the time, I contacted CEL and they explained when it was from. I remember the occasion, I was something like 10-15 mins over due to breastfeeding my daughter in a restaurant. They demanded something rediculous like £250-£300. (I wish I could remember the exact amount but I can't). I was offered a appeal but it would cost £250. This is money that we don't have 😥😥
My partner refused to pay them a penny.. this is drastically affecting my credit. I have tried to call them to find out the amount owed.. but unless I have a parking fine number, then I can't get through. I don't have this number due to never receiving the letters (my address has been updated since then with the DVLA)
I am in limbo as to what to do. It is really stressing me out. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank you

1. Read post #2 of 'NEWBIES PLEASE READ THESE FAQS FIRST' about set asides.
2. read saggi's thread - he/she already did what you now must do:

It does cost £255 in a court application fee, up front to set aside a CCJ (and you DO need a decent defence argument as the Judge will want to see not only that you didn't know about the CCJ but that you also have good prospects of success).
For £255 your CCJ is then wiped completely. And saggi got her £255 back, as CEL's claim was pants.
Get it set aside, that wipes it completely but takes some research and work, well worth it though.
So don't pay them off, don't contact the parking firm. Paying off CEL does NOT NOT NOT do that, it merely marks it as 'satisfied' by the CCJ stays there for all to see, for six years.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
